Hi guys, been away for a while because.... you guessed it! I was in my roof tinkering with the antenna!
Here are the results:
The first thing I tried was raising the antenna. The antenna itself is a Radio Shack (maybe their Archer brand, don't remember and can't find documentation) VHF/UHF/FM uni-directional outdoor antenna. It's like a five or six footer. It was like 7 ft. from the ground (roof), now it is 14 ft!
But still no 26. So step two was to re-aim. I began turning the antenna to the west (it was aimed south). And VOILA!!. 26 appeared!
ABC, CW, THIS!!!!
But the problem is that when doing this, I began losing signal strenght in the other channels.
So today, I bought a cheap PVC onmidirectonal antenna, and a Radio Shack inline amplifier.
I installed the PVC antenna and I was not impressed with the results, so I mounted the Radio Shack antenna back, re aimed and installed the amplifier. Tha amp helps just marginally with the signal strength, but anything is welcome!
Here is my lineup right now, with signal strenght on a VIP211 (inline amplifier in place). Every new channel that I am receiving after the adjustments is indicated:
2- 76
4- 72
6- 73
7- 85
9 (NEW)- 66
11- 99
13- 63
24- 71
26 (NEW, YEAH!)- 75
31- 73
32- 76
36- 88
40- 73
58- 88
60 (NEW)- 78
64 (NEW)- 86
So now I can't wait for FOX and NBC
Question: Would a GOOD omnidirectional antenna help?
Can anyone recommend brand, model, or where to buy such and antenna in PR?
I have checked Sears and Radio Shack (it is Sunday after all), and they don't have any. I think I will go to Bonnin tomorrow and I know CokiOne advertises one or two. But I don't want to spend a lot if I won't see a significant improvement.
I can go up to the 90s in channels 2 and 4 and up to the 80's in 26, 6, 13 etc. just by reaiming the antenna, but not without losing channels.
Thanks for the help and forgive the long post
