I just set my appt up and asked Dish to confirm the hardware that I was to be receiving. They quoted that I would get a 722(cool) and a 222.

Not knowing what a 222 is I just looked it up and found out that it is an HD tuner. Hmmm, I specifically told the CSR that I only had 1 HDTV. Can I just run this STB like an SD tuner for my 2 SD TV's?

Go ahead and take the 222.. You will need it one day. It will work on your SD TV just fine.. It does cost an extra buck each month. $6.00 lease fee instead of $5.00.. But you can watch all the HD channels on your SD TV's although they will be downconverted.
