so i was speaking with our dish rep today and she was talking about a new products in the works for mobile video. basically she said that the product would be similar to an ipod, it would connect to the usb port of your receiver and download recorded content from the dvr. Basically then you can take your recorded shows on the road. Now i dont know the validity of this, but it sounded nice. My thought was if you can download the content to a hand held device, what stops a computer from emulating it and downloading the content?

Anyone else hear about this?

Someone will post a direct link but it's in one of the sticky's on this forum.

Yeah, i can't wait for this to roll out, on the last tech chat they showed two of the models...
They are made by Archos
And on the little brochure from team summit, they are called PocketDish.
There is three different sizes...
One with a 2.2" LCD and a 20GB Hard drive (which is supposed to hold 80 hours of video)
One with a 4" LCD and a 30GB HD (120 Hrs of video)
And one with a 7" LCD and a 40GB HD (160 Hrs of Video)
and of course they are also supposed to play mp3's, you can store pictures on it, play games, ect.

And i am very curious to see how long it takes for someone to figure out how to make a computer emulate the pocketdish, and allow you to rip video to a computer from the reciever just as soon as dish makes the usb port active....
o, also too, they are supposedly going to work from all of the current dvr's, including the 500 series recievers

The 501/508/510 doesn't have a USB port. Is the 522's 1.1 or 2.0?

i'm not sure which version the USB port on the 522 is, but i'm pretty sure my 510 had a USB port, pretty positive.

also, if i remember right, its gonna have rca jack inputs also... so you can do real time recording

Im hoping that Archos-branded products will work as well as the Dish-branded products. I'd really like to have the 100GB version of the AV700.
The Archos 700 is out and is featuring USB port transfer capability. Now we need the software to do it on the 942. Or it can be used as a Tivo like devices. No name based recordings but timer based and it will change the boxes channels as well.

L.A. and NYC Locals.....Yea baby

comcast offer for dish network customer
