looking forward to checking out the pll cband you folks are going to sell. my only concern is the 60db gain i prefer 65

I am highly doubtful that you would observe positive results or increased performance when comparing an identical LNBF outputting 60dB vs 65dB. Increased gains are realized in cleaner amplification, not increased output.

Most modern satellite systems do not benefit from increased amplification. Unless the system has poor quality distribution or excessive lengths of coax, increased amplification usually results in degraded signal quality and BER. In a typical system, the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) is not improved and in fact it is usually decreased at the end of a 125 - 150ft coax run.

I do observe a significant performance improvement when the amplification is set at a midrange of 60dB rather than increasing and raising the noise floor. Most modern receivers have great sensitivity and nothing is gained by increasing the signal level and decreasing the SNR.

2013. Dealers and reviewers will have production run units within the week. Retail units should be available the first few weeks of December. The actual date is up to US Customs! :D

Titanium website will open preorders for the C1-PLL at MSRP on 11/29/2013. It is up to the resellers to select the products and set their own launch dates.

Thank you for the response you have diagnosis why i have that preference long old cable runs. agreed SNR is the measure why amplify noise and not clean signal amplification ? is it inherent to the amplification process from 60 to 65 ?
 
The signal has to be at a certain level before anything can be done with it.

amplifiers ALWAYS amplify the noise along with the signal, its all on the same cable at the same time. its a good with the bad scenario.

so using a 60 or 65db gain amp wont improve your SNR, it just makes everything louder. Thats important on a very long cable run, but not necessary on 99% of users installs.

I dont know if Ive mentioned it in this thread or not but over the years when I used todo satellite installs professionally, 2-3x a day for a few years, I only ever used an amp once, and that was on an 800ft run of existing coax. Basically it was a large casino that had an allocated dishfarm on the roof. It was the only place I was allowed to put the dish. The coax from this farm was all RG6 and prerun. switching it to better coax was not feasable without adding a massive expense and time to the job. I used a powered amp / voltage inserter at the half way point. It was the ONLY case where more amplification was required.

If your running cable distances similar to that you might find a 65db lnb would eliminate the need for that inline amp over a 60db lnb. maybe. But I bet youd still have voltage switching issues, so your not really any better off

Clean processing is a separate issue. This is defined in many ways. Examples are isolation and noise ratio. Unfortunately, the marketing lies printed on most LNBFs of .1 or .2dB NR have resulted in this specification to be irrelevant! Example: it is not possible at this time to produce a consumer PLL LNBF with a NR below .5 or .6, yet other brands insist that their LNBFs are .1. LOL! Total marketing BS!

Amplifying the output at any level increases both the noise and the desired signals. There is a balance point where amplification is excessive and degrades the performance. Too much amplification and the tuner overloads, to little and the signal is degraded through a typical coax run.

I experience incredible performance when the amplification is dialed back even more (example: 50dB) using a short run and high quality coax. If the LNBF were sold that way to you, the performance would be terrible! The signal would be severely attenuated by your long and older cable run.

60dB is a great balance for a typical system. Nothing inherent occurs between 60 - 65dB. I just see the benefits decline for an average hobbyist's system when over amplified.
