I am a newbie - looking to hook up another TV in another room - using one satellite receiver in the living room. Surely this must be common thing that has been discussed before. How do I find out if that is true? How can I find which forum to search? I am looking for some direction. Thanks in advance for you help.

Welcome! Assuming it's a basic receiver you could simply split the output from the receiver to the 2nd TV (whether it's coax or digital) and use a wireless IR/RF repeater so your remote will work in the other room. Of course you can choose only 1 channel at a time this way, but you can also only watch one TV at a time as well...!

Give us more details about your exact equipment and we can make better recommendations...

Thanks. I have a Directv HD receiver that uses an HDMI cable to the HDTV. I found out today that there is a HDMI splitter that I could use to send one output to my current TV and another to the future TV in the other room - correct? One problem is that run to the other TV in the kitchen - goes up into the attic and back down into a kitchen cabinet - for a total of about 50 feet. Will that HDMI cable cost $1000 or something like that?
