Since satellite is the only way the receiver can receive data, it must be active.Dumb question do I need to subscribe first before the box will allow a lock on?

I don't think that's a clamp. It looks more like a mount that insures that the LNB is always clocked the same as the dish.

Would you have one in mind that can handle 5 TVs? The plan is to only one more box to the bedroom but be nice if the rest of the TVs were ready to add boxes to if needed. So far I’m not to impressed with the dvr. It seems that it doesn’t support schedule recording based on the shows name to record all episode when ever it airs.Congrats! A 2GHz (2000MHz) splitter will feed the satellite vertical polarity and terrestrial signals (if you add an ota antenna) to additional receivers.

So the satellite would go to the IN input and the antenna just plug into one of the OUT input?
Might be possible to repair that dish where it can be used. Get some metal bar braces from the hardware store, drill a couple holes, and bolt together, and use as big of a washer as you can on the inside to give it extra support or cut down a bar to fit. As long as the rest of the dish is intact, it should work. I fixed one where the arm mount was broke off and it works perfectly. Here’s some pictures of the damaged dish which is sad cause from the looks of it it’s a bigger dish then the second one.

Hide that dish from what happened to your c band dish.Got my new winegard 30in dish today and setup. Took all of 2 minuets and had a lock. SS 83% SQ 99%. I temporarily mounted the dish to my deck until I can move it up to the roof when the weather gets better. What switch should I get to add few more receivers down the road and also keep my antenna connected to all of them?
You do need a diplexer in front of the splitter. The OTA connects to the "Ant/VHF/UHF" port and the LNB contects to the "Sat" port. The remaining "IN/OUT" port connects to the splitter/switch.So the satellite would go to the IN input and the antenna just plug into one of the OUT input?
No it does not have to be activated to use signal meterSince satellite is the only way the receiver can receive data, it must be active.
