I am looking for forums usage rules. Is it good or bad here to "hijack" an existing post? For example I find a older post "Help with a Joey connected by WiFi experiencing intermittent pixelation, audio dropouts and stutteri". That is my problem exactly. Do I use that discussion thread or start a new one?
Is it bad to ask questions that maybe I should have been answered via more research? For example, until a while ago I had no idea what Moca was (saw it in this group) so I googled it. Now I think I have it. I have one cable from disk to roof crawl space; one cable to Hopper; one cable to Joey. I thought I had splitter in crawl space and antenna cables to each box. Apparently it is really Moca. Is it bad to ask "Do I have Moca?" for example or will I get some "Read the manual" type answer?
What is "Post a Poll" used for and where are the poll results?

It's usually easier to post a new bread but really you can do whichever you prefer. With how often software and fixes release, most old reads are irrelevant. Most being key word as TS usually is good no matter. Should always research but never hesitate to ask. We have all done it before where we just don't want to look something up so we ask here knowing someone will have the answer probably quicker and easier. And more accurate than we could come up with.

Welcome RobertL! Chad answered your questions but I'd like to question something you wrote. You said: I have one cable from disk to roof crawl space; one cable to Hopper; one cable to Joey. First, you should have 2 cables from the dish to the roof crawl space. Those 2 cables go to a node. The cable to the Hopper and the cable to the Joey attach to that same node, but on the other side. Do not confuse MOCA with WiFi. MOCA is self contained through the node. You can see the quality of your MOCA connection by pressing, on your remote, Menu, Settings, Diagnostics, System Status. MOCA is located in the upper right corner of the screen.

Plus, the moderators will combine or move threads as needed.

If a thread is over four or five months old (from last post), start a new one

I have seen members find two year old posts and add comments to them. If it is a long post, it can be irriatating to reread the old post before realizing it is old. When in doubt, start a new post.
