new install and dvr playback problems

Wow,that set up is new to me. I have my PI hooked up to my HR23 without problems. Well,I do have some extra white coaxial cable,an extra green labeled 2-way splitter, terminators(would the terminator run hot under that set up?),& way too much free time,so here goes...........
well i dont see how it would work for me because i already have a 2 way splitter right there in the mix with the deca being involved. With that port they say to terminate still going to my dvr. Damn that coax going into the deca is blazin hot

First, use the email that raoul5788 told you to use if DTV doesn't correct the problem for you. You'd need a third 2-way splitter for that set up to work. You mean power inserter instead of DECA right(although the DECA adapters also run hot where the coaxial cables are connected to them)? Use the email & state the problem you are having with your network set up in it in it. All of this other stuff about how to hook up the PI is just a waste of time. Get the tech(or get the office of the president of d* to get the tech) to come back & correct it,that's what they're paid for.

ok i will give the email a shot. Yes there is a total of 3 2way splitters in my system I didnt include the one between the deca and pi. the coax from outside is going to the "in" side of the splitter . Then from the power pass out one coax goes to the pi that says power to swm. the other out goes to deca. Then from the signal to ird side of pi , that coax runs to dvr

I'm confused what you mean by DECA,are you talking about the Cinema Connection Kit?

no im talking about the deca broadband connector, i dont have a cinema connection kit. Everyone I know with the hr 24 has both and one was supposed to be installed and was in my work order but never made it. Apparently Ive heard I dont really need it

The Cinema Connection Kit is another name for the Broadband Adapter. As long as you can remember how to put everything back the way it was,you could(while waiting for the tech to come, that means you can try this right now) make sure the power is off of your HR34,& H25's,if you are able to run ethernet cable to your HR34 from your router, then unplug the Broadband adapter, disconnect the coaxial cable from it & the non powered side of the 2 way splitter it is attached to(if you have a terminator to place on the IRD side of the PI),& then disconnect the coaxial cable from the IRD,& if it is long enough, hook it to the non powered side of the same splitter that you removed the Broadband adapter's coaxial cable from. Now if you don't have a tiny little terminator, you can't do any of this(you could still remove the DECA adapter & the third 2-way splitter & hook the coaxial cable from the input of the splitter to the power to the SWM side of the PI,but you can't do anything about the receiver being directly hooked to the PI). After you have hooked everything up either/or,turn on each receiver one at a time & then see if both H25's can each see the HR34 under menu-settings-whole home-status. Both H25's should say that they see the HR34. This will at least make you feel like you tried something whether it works or not. If it doesn't work, put everything back the way you found it,"no harm,no foul," & then just wait for the tech to fix it.

ok thats weird because on my friends set up he has a deca on one receiver closest to his router and a white box that says cimena connection kit on his hr 24. Yea I dont have a terminator unfortunately or I would have already had everything rewired and definitely screwed up lol.
The email worked wonders they got right back with me and were excellent about everything. Got me setup for an appt on Sat for a different tech and said he would go over everything and make it right. Very nice on their end, I personally think my "local" office dropped the ball big time

I don't know what to say about what your friend has,but as long as you get YOUR system up & running correctly, that's all that counts.

yes i fully agree, i just want mine to do what i need it to do . My ip address on dvr ends in .102 with stb services 27163 and audio services 27164. h 25 is ip .103 with stb 27161 and audio 27162. but all the rest of the numbers are the same on the ip address just one number off the last set of numbers

Then they should all be seeing each other. I think a cable is to blame

yea strange stuff goin on, they all say they are connected. I can pull up the playlists and scheduled dvr recordings from the 25's just cant watch any of them for any long period of time. I can at least preview them lol

maybe its one of my older cables to my 25s thats not up to par. It was here when i moved here 8 years ago. I wish the installer would have ran some new coax at least. Oh well hopefully the new tech will get it up and running saturday

well tech was just here , walked in and knew the problem within 1 min of seeing the wiring to the dvr. Tech had plugged the ethernet cable directly into the receiver. He said thats a no-no because the deca does everything it needs thru the coax. Everything is up and running perfectly. I wish I could have figured that simple step out and saved him a 2 1/2 drive. Thanks for all the help guys especially to raoul5788 for the email address!

For some stupid reason that came to my mind that your HR34 had a ethernet cable connected to it along with your broadband adapter connected to your system. I don't know why I didn't ask about it,however.......as long as it's working now :).
