New HTPC - Problem solved

Pacificrim, clearly he is missing the point that your HTPC build is working well for your needs.

Clearly, I'm not.

What I'm talking about is the expectations of a modern HTPC versus a computer used for a specific purpose -- satellite TV viewing. The subject does say "New HTPC" after all

So I'm running Kodi, running VLC, streaming to my network, playing Netflix, outputting Dolby Digital, watching streaming TV, listening to streaming audio, tuning everything FTA and seeing it all in HD or UHD. I can play the most current video games and do it all with a kickass remote keyboard that cost virtually nothing all from a PC that was easy to upgrade and was relatively inexpensive. Your point is?

He doesn't have one.Apparently free/cheap,does what you want and works just fine is not an option in his book.
