Longhorn,

Your list is much the same as one I have seen, however as of late I have been hearing the lineup that Chris posted (although with TNT-HD) at DBSTalk.

For whats its worth, it appears IN HD is not coming to DirecTV anytime soon.

That stinks about INHD channels those are the 2 I was really looking for

This INHD 1 & 2 has been quite a pain to bring it to Satellite. When V* was negotiating for these two channels, I was told by my source (very close to the negotiation) that right now they (cable) did not want INHD 1 & 2 on Satellite and it was for Cable only. I was also hoping for INHD 1 & 2 since it is one of those "candy" channels that only cable has at this moment.

That is kind of funny about VOOM seeing as Dolan owns them you would think they had an inside track on those 2 channels but I bet the feeling was once on VOOM then they would have no choice but to have to negotiate with D* and E* so maybe that is the reason.

All the more reason I hate anything to do with cable

And if IN HD ever did get on Satellite the good programming (such as HD baseball) wouldnt be available. So in sense it would just be two more HD demo channels.

Why wouldn't the baseball games be on? InHD gets national agreements to show those baseball games, which would be just like ESPN does.

You're thinking of the local RSN games that the cable companies replace INHD2 to put the game on that channel.

I was just told that those types of programs would be blacked out if their went to Satellite.

Who knows maybe its the sateling companies wanting them blacked out, this way if people want baseball they subscribe to the baseball package.

If that is the case then I don't want INHD Channels as I all I really want out of them is to watch the NESN feed of the Red Sox games

I am NOT Longhorn:), just posted his info, not sure if he is a member here or not. I doubted the InHD myself. However, some of the arguments don't make sense. Cable is only in 21M homes (last time I checked) and satellite is in 23M homes. Right? So who cares if cable pulls the plug? Revenue is revenue, let's see how quick they are to honor that when their HD customer base starts jumping ship, that would be at least 500K subs !!!:smug

Like I have posted before (like 10 times now) StarzHD is my Ace, anything else is a kicker to me.

Does anyone have newer "official" info on the sub numbers?

I'm the LonghornXP in the posts on the other sites. Now to start off that channel lineup doesn't mean that deals are done but it means that those are the new channels DirecTV is working with.

Now I've been told that InDemand was able to get the longest exclusive for their InHD channels under the law because it isn't sent via fiber and this exclusive is coming up very soon and other providers have been able to work out deals beforehand but won't be able to carry the channels until such time as the exclusive runs out. Now from what I gather is that its very hard to get an exclusive and requires those channels to be offered to many systems and subscibers for a longer term exclusive. But its coming up very shortly.

Also all InHD sports are national sports deals and will only be blacked out in areas that require blackouts by their sports leagues. What I mean by this is that if the Red Soxs are playing at home and those of you in Boston have another company with exclusive rights to show this game in Boston it might be blacked out on InHD for those in Boston. This has nothing to do with DirecTV but has everything to do with the league allowing one company control of certain games. Comcast SportsNet comes to mind very quickly.

But DirecTV doesn't blackout games to make to get the PPV sports package. DirecTV and every other company only blacks out games that the league requires them too.

Now this list could change but I have been told that some deals have been done but aren't allowed to be announced just yet while others are still being worked on.

But rest assured that you all will be happy in six months time maybe sooner whether you are a movie or sports fan or both.

If the INHD 1/2 exclusivity deal dies, I am willing to be that every DBS will fall all over themselves to sign them on. Who knows maybe E* will even drop a SD channel or three.

I was hoping more for something like by October. Six months puts you back in March 2005. Not to beat a dead horse here but this seems like a long time to wait for these HD Channels (half a year!).

I think that the List Chris posted will be whats up there by the end of October, however after football season the other list makes a lot of sense. :D

Exciting times we live in. :D

Please pardon this "newbie" question, esp. if previously covered. I'm not sure I "want" the correct answer to this question....

I'm with Direct TV and have waivers from all the networks (not an O&O area) and receive East/West SD feeds including CBS HD.

During the Olympics, I did not receive the HD (84) Olympics broadcast since the local NBC affiliate is independently operated.....and, only CBS in my area actually puts out a digital signal so I don't have the option of putting up an antenna for an OTA signal for NBC, Fox or ABC....thus, the Network HD is important, esp. for my wife.

Question - in my situation, even "if" Direct TV offers an HD NBC and Fox feed, I suspect that I'll also "not" receive these HD channels.....is that correct?

Thanks for the input....

No, you should get them.

The olympics deal was a different set up, where only O&O and markets with cable carriage of NBC HD got it.

If that is the list by October, it is not enticing enough to make me switch (even from Echostar). I was really hoping for more. The only new "HD programming" (for me) will be the NFL HD Sunday Ticket and I won't pay extra for that since between Fox, CBS, ESPN and NFL-HD (GOTW), I can get enough of them to keep me busy.

From INHD's FAQ page: "INHD and INHD2 launched on September 15, 2003."

Also, from their Press section: "NEW YORK - December 11, 2003 - Cablevision Systems Corporation today announced a significant expansion of its high-definition (HD) programming slate. By December 16, high-definition programming available to iO: Interactive Optimum digital cable customers will include Cinemax HD, STARZ! HD, The Movie Channel HD, and iN DEMAND'S INHD."

A one year exclusivity period? More? Exclusive for the owner/operators (Comcast, Cox, and TWC), or the first non-owner carrier (Cablevision)?

As has been pointed out before, because it's distributed via satellite, it HAS to be offered to other multichannel providers, at levels comparable to who it's already being sold to.
