Is it just one tree? If so you can move the dish if that is the bird you are after.
...or you could try another bird to get your feet wet in FTA.

That is kind of a loaded question....especially for a newbie. You can only lock onto one satellite at a time per receiver(unless it is dual tuner).
However, you can install multiple LNBFs on a dish and use a switch. When configured properly then the receiver with "switch" to the appropriate LNBF.
You can also have multiple dishes set up and do the same thing.

Oh ok I was just getting info so once I lock on to a sat I just go to the reciever box and scan that sat for channels

Correct once you get a quality lock, yes then you can hook up your receiver and do a blind scan.
If you are talking about Galaxy 19 ku, at 97W. A little over 200.

At those two you will get and idea of the satellite available to NA and what is on some of them.
Note: Some things are outdated on those web sites, and some things are very outdated. It will however give you an idea.
Now remember most of these are foreign language and religious programming. FTA will not replace "standard" pay TV. Once you find your first satellite and start figuring this all out you will enjoy the hobby of looking around to see what you can find.
What's the difference in KU and C band is it the same satellite cause one setting says KU and the Other says C
Just compared meter tools screen with info on dishpointer for a couple sats and it appears to be correct.
Ok that I understand LOL hell its free satellite but 200 free channels is still free now my question is on the sat meter does the higher your dB are means the closer you are to locking onto the Sat its self Like if you are at 72dB then you slight move the Dish and go up to 83dB does that mean your close to locking onto the Satellite
Most times you can lock onto a channel with a lower signal level. However, the higher the better. Once you find the satellite, you can play with it to achieve the highest signal possible. The stronger the signal, the less chance there is of the channel breaking up or dropping out during bad weather. There are other factors that cause problems, but you can look at those later. Right now, I'd be interested in getting some watchable channels and then see what develops with them.
97W has some good C-Band channels as well, like Grit, Laff, Justice, Escape, Bounce and several others, but it will take a bigger dish to receive those. Worth while investment, if you have the room for a BUD. Happy Hunting !
Two different readings on the meter. The Signal Strength or Intensity SNR reading just means "a signal is detected" and you are connected to a working LNB, but the higher the dB, doesn't mean that the dish is aimed at the correct satellite or the polarity skew (LNBF rotation) is properly set.
Pay close attention to the Signal Quality or BER meter reading. You MUST have selected an active transponder for the satellite that you are trying to find. Once this transponder is detected, the Signal Quality or BER reading will lock and display a reading. If the active transponder is not detected, you are not locked on the satellite. Use the Signal Quality or BER meter reading to detect the correct satellite and optimize reflector aiming and LNBF skew.

Oh ok so the higher dB means nothing unless your locked onto a satellite itself. So once you get signal quality your basically locked on the satellite
