Someone finally bid on it, Jayelem was that you? if so I would be interested to hear if you can get it working. I thouht hard about it but my Dvbworld dvb-s2 usb arrived a few days ago and I have been busy with that, so, one disaster at a time:confused:

It was tempting but no it wasn't me , could've been another forum member though.

I saw a PAL > NTSC converter gadget on Ebay that may have provided some solution but unless fortec comes out with NTSC firmware I really didn't want to take the chance.

A cheap Pal <---> NTSC converter will not solve the problem, what it does is to chop off the lines make it fits in NTSC making the picture sutter.
The quality of these cheap unit might even worst than the built-in Pal-NTSC converter in the receivers.
As I mention earlier, the chip Fortec uses does not support 4:2:2. Lot of assumption have been made, some even said that 100% confirmation on the 4:2:2, too bad, it's not true. Those so desperate of getting 4:2:2, get a Quali-tv. That's the cheapest receiver on the market that get 4:2:2. Downside is the software is buggy, no blindsearch, dvb-s only, no OTA tuner..but it does excellent job with 4:2:2

I think thats a common issue with ntsc->pal

I switched my dreambox and my fortec mercury II over to PAL mode to see if I could gain a few lines of resolution, both acted the same way viewing ntsc feeds, when the motion got fast they flickered or stuttered the picture.

its most likley the 60hz to 50hz conversion process.

Finally got the pasion NA software!
Now I am in the Process to get the first satellite going!
It’s a new learning curve bud Fan!

I got the software updated!
And watching galaxy 25 the fashion channel.
The channel map is totally outdated!
This will take time, setting up all the sat’s!
So far, I can’t find the Power scan!
It’s a new learning Curve and fun!

it might not support powerscan, its been said before the euro model doesnt support blindscan or 4:2:2

those are hardware features, not firmware features.

Not having power scan is a problem!
Will take a long time, to update, manual!
Ones the update, is complete, it can saved to a UBS stick!
This is a nice future!
I like to post the manual, bud don’t, know how!
Options dont work!

I can post it here or in the manual section (or both) :)

e-mail it to my user name @ this website (satelliteguys.us) and I can post it
(didnt put exact e-mail as to not get spam) :)

normally if its a rar or zip file it should upload fine

Hope it is not to large at 56 megs!
Well it's send!
Got it Back,to large!
Sorry

FIFTY SIX MBs!

What's that sucker got in it besides the manual.

Un-rar it and find just the manual.pdf file and see how big that is.

Maybe they included Adobe Reader install along in the rar file. ????

All said, you right!
Be on that,
I am Starting to like the receiver more and more!
The picture is just Stunning clear!
To be able to use the USB stick, to display
You own picture and music, is a great future.
The software may be in need of a bid correcting.
You can also save you channels on the USB stick
And transfer to other receivers!
I would like of, having a channel editor For the computer!
Entering the transponders manual, is ease, and not a problem.
Using my fortec mercury, for power scan and entering
The transponder to the pation receiver, is working for me!
Lyngsat is not always up to date.
This might be the receiver; I will keep for a long time.

It thing, fortec is plain stupid of not having it
On the market by now!
I am sure, it will be a winner!
The owners in Dubai,(middle east)
Must be Brain death!
The have led two of there best managers go!
One in the Nederland and Toronto!

The picture on the passion is very nice
but not as nice as the quali-tv receiver.
It will do DVB-S2 but it wil not decode Dolby
5.1 are AC3. The European version of the
software will decode Ac3 audio and dolby digital.
It will not blindscan. It can not
do 4.2.2 video. The Dolby digital audio problem
is a big problem on ITC HD Feeds.
Thanks nantro for the NA software but I am
going back to the European version so I can
decode Dolby Digital audio. There is a
channel editor for the passion on
Fortecstar website.

no blindscan makes it a no-go for me. I'm glad I got my Pansat 9200. No AC3 out of the box is also a big no-no for me also.
