We have locked and displayed a 4:2:2 signal with the Fortec Star Passion. The firmware update is scheduled to arrive in the next few days. Should have a review available soon ...... ANTICIPATION ........

Can you check if it down-converts the HD to the SD outputs? I would assume it does, but by the same loc you'd think it would convert AC3 audio to 2ch stereo for SD outputs too. Can you check those two?

#1 - While displaying an HD channel, say PBS HD, see if it displays a SD down convert on the S-video / composite connections. If so there options to format it (letterbox, squeeze, etc).

#2 - When locked on a channel with AC3 audio (I believe PBS HD also has AC3 audio) do you get sound via the red/white RCA connections?

Thanks!

On Ku... PBS HD and feeds.

On C Band there are a couple such as Outdoor channel / Movie Central HD / another PBS. There are of course Feeds on C-band as well.

Another dumb ?? but what are "Feeds"?
I may have dorked the semantics, but remote news casts, sports uplinks, basically stuff that is only up as long as whatever event they are covering is.

You can catch some of the news cast stuff on it's trip to the station before it gets all the overlays and edits. RAW TV.

It can be interesting stuff.

I can't wait to see the result of this hot new receiver!!:hungry:

But I am wondering will it convert PAL video to NTSC regardless of 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 SD or HDTV video fomat?

And how much is going to cost to buy this hot new baby!:D

Need to wait for the firmware revision before I can comment on these items.

are there any PAL feeds in NA ?

Ive tried to get my dreambox 500 to convert NTSC to PAL, hopeing to get slightly better resolution, unfortunatly it works with slow video, but fact motion like sports, I got pixelation bad.

so if it can convert, make sure to test on fast motion video to confirm it works well :)

Yes there is some PAL videos here in U.S.A. 3 bird thats do carry PAL video feeds are......

IA-6, Nahul-1 and PAS-9....

Just remember PAL videos feeds does come and goes.:)

As for the video conversion, PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL is the video frame rates differences PAL use 25 FPs, NTSC use 30 FPs so that's why you are getting the frame rates distortions due to a conversions.

Have fun TV DXing it.....:hungry:

PBS and Network distribution (CBS/ABC C-band) are not HD 4:2:2. Your best bet is on the weekend for o/v sports feeds. NBC sometimes use HD 4:2:2.

Yes, 4:2:2 HD (PBS and some network feeds).... Still awaiting the test firmware. :( PATIENTLY ...... YEAH... Right!
