New ExpressVu HD receiver connection question

I have two standard def PVRs one of which is about to be upgraded to an HD dual tuner PVR (presumably a 9242). I have been told that the dual tuner receiver requires two satellite inputs and this means that the installer is going to have to drill another hole in my house so that another line can be run through the wall. I really don't want that to happen and was hoping that there was another way.

I currently have a dish with two dual output LNBFs which are multiplexed with two SW21s, one for each receiver. I am wondering if, rather than running another line through the wall, whether it would be possible to split the signal from one of the SW21s after it comes into the house. I am asking this here so that, assuming that what I want is possible, I am armed with the relevant information when the installer arrives.

Thanks,
Dan.

Go DishProPlus:

Replace the lnb's on the dish and SW-21's with a DPP Twin.
This will allow you to run one line to each receiver. At the 9242 (or any other dual tuner receiver for that matter), you can then use a DPP Seperator to split the line for the 2 tuners.

My understanding is that Bell does not support DPP. Is there any way to do this with Bell supported equipment? What do they do when someone has 5 or more receivers?

Thanks,
Dan.

PS. Atlanta Flames fan? Man, you go way back!

Bell doesn't support DPP, but all the newer Echostar receivers do.
I've been using DPP on my 9200 for a couple years.

I was born and raised in Georgia. I was a big fan when I was a kid, my father took me to some games at the Omni to see them play. I remember vividly in 1980 when the Flames got stolen away from us in the bidding war that resulted when the owner went backrupt.

Unless you go DPP+ you cant split the line. DishProPLus allows you to use the separator to only use one line into the receiver (use the separator at the back of the receiver).

Bell doesn't say it will work (they bought up Dish's old SW44 & LNB stock so why would they) but it works fine. Dish makes ExpressVu's receivers so Dish equipment will work fine

Sad part is, most installers have to run a check switch with nothing attached to place the receiver in Legacy mode, because they ship from Echostar in Dishpro mode.

I live in the US, use a broker and sub a 9242 & 5900 receiver. I use DP LNBs and a DPP44 switch for both receivers. Everything works great. Use a DPP seperator and only one line is needed for the 9242. The 9242 is equal to the Dish VIP622 and is a super receiver, the best receiver that is available for Canadian TV.

Thanks for the information, people. In the end I decided to go with the "Bell approved" install since I was a bit impatient to get everything set up and I didn't want to wait to get a hold of the extra hardware. It turned out to be better than I thought since we just made the existing hole a little bigger and ran both lines through it.

What I don't understand is why the receiver was designed to take two inputs rather than one with the signal being split internally. The only reason that comes to mind is cost.
