At the Team Summit, E* mentioned that there was a new DVR Advantage program that would be available on June 1st.

Have there been any official details ?

(I was just on the point of switching to DVR Advantage, and I'd like to know the exact details of what is changing, so I know whether to wait a few weeks or not.)

New Customers:
>18 month agreement will be optional
>CCA w/ paperless billing will be optional
>AT250 no longer will require movie pack ($59.99)
>No more $22.00/mo. price “two-pay” combinations that include HBO
>Qualifying receivers (existing customers) still include models 510, 522, 625, 942 or ViP622 DVR.

Existing customers must still choose between ONE of the following three options:
> An additional 18-month Term Agreement
> Credit Card AutoPay (CCA) with paperless billing
> Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) with paperless billing

So, how will it work with HBO after June 1st ?

And, if you already have CCA and paperless, is that sufficient, or is CCA only a possible choice if you don't already have it ?

As a new customer will I be able to get a 622 and a 625 reciever? I am not into the movie package so I think I will wait till June since its not far off. I had to wait till the end of the Center Ice package before I could switch.

I didn't write the rules, I just posted what was released in the lastest facts blast to the retailers, which is what was posted above.

That's fine - I was just looking for clarification - and I'm appreciative for whatever you post.

Lastly, does your post above have the entire wording of the FaxBlast as it pertains to DVR Advantage ?

I wish there were more replies to this post as I'm tring to decide if I should sign up now for the Advantage or wait until June 1st. Scott, can you help me out and post the changes that are due out this Thursday?

YOu need to look at the team summit threads. They spell it all out. There will be a new dvr advantage pack for top 250 for 59.99 a month. THen you can add movie packs for 10.00 for one , 20.00 for two , 30.00 for three, 40.00 for four.

Presently , dvr advantage pack is very complicated and is causing Dish more confusion then satisfaction. The new dvr advantage pack will be 49.99 for top 200 and then 59.99 for top 250.

These dvr advantage packs will both include locals and a discount on the dvr fee for one receiver or $3.89 savings a month over regular programming packs. Also no more 18 month commitment and I think they said no more credit card auto pay requirement. But do a search for team summit and you can read it for yourself.

It's still vague on some points. We were hoping for the text of the FAXBLAST.

The Team Summit thread says:
Dish DVR Advantage is changing on June 1st.

Credit Card Auto Pay will no longer be required
No 18 Month commitment is requires

In addition AT 250 will be available with Dish DVR Advantage for $59.99

In addition they are simplifying the premium packages with Dish DVR Advantage.

So if you have Dish DVR advantage with AT 200 for $49 a month you can get premiums at
2 Premium Service for $20 more
3 Premium Services for $30 more
4 Premium Service for $40 more

And in a way to upsell you to AT250 for $59 a month you can get premiums for...
1 for $10
2 for $20
3 for $30
4 for $40

And plus you can add HD to any of the above for only $20 more a month.
The big question is still "What is the premium pricing with DVR Advantage for HBO ?"
Also, Slamminc11 stated that there are differences between new customers and existing customers for this package, which are not stated in the Team Summit thread.

I switched over to the DVR Advant. 3 weeks ago. I have the Top 250 and having a movie premium was not required then either.

I'd asked previously but no one responded--if you have a grandfathered combo package (locals+supers, in my case) and you sign up for DVR Advantage, do you lose the discount?

The locals plus super is not a "discount" it is a "package price".

DVR Advantage is also a "package price", and it includes locals, but it doesn't include supers, which IIRC is $5.99 for all supers per month.

So, you have to do the math. The grandfathered packages have a variety of different prices, depending on how long ago you signed up for your package, so I would have no way of knowing what you are paying now.

Certainly you do lose the grandfathering if you sign up for DVR Advantage.

One thing not mentioned here is the important fact that you give up the receiver protection plan when you elect the no commitment package

I signed up for DVR Advantage on June 1st, and I added HBO at the same time (due to Star Wars in HD, and John From Cincinnati this Sunday).

I checked my billing statement, and the good news is that HBO is now only $10 per month if it is added to DVR Advantage ! :) That's a $5 per month savings. Showtime is also only $10 per month (a $3 per month savings).

So, the bottom line is that DVR Advantage saves you $4 per month if you have both a DVR and Locas, but it saves you more money if you subscribe to Premium channels.

IT saves you money up to a point with 3 premiums but then it would make more sense to go with AEP w locals for 94.99 a month if you wanted 4 premiums. For example :Top 250 with dvr advantage is 59.99 + 4 premium movie channels for 40.00 = $99.99. I would hope that at that point that they would just upgrade you automatically to AEP instead of charging you 5.00 more for the the top 250 dvr advantage pack with 4 premiums.

Just switched my Top250/locals/DVR package to the advantage program, and it should be saving me around $4/month. I would have never done it I was forced into an 18-month contract, but paperless billing is not a problem.
