New DishHD $29.99 HD Only Package Details

Thanks for being a very early adopter :)

Is the SD version of HGTV included? I ask because they have different programming.

Did they charge you a $5 "down grade" fee.

Thanks in advance - Talon Dancer

Yes HGTV was included with SD, which I thought was very cool.

Alice from india was nice enough not to charge me any extra fee's.

The one thing I am still worried about, even though she said no, is the extending of my contract. I hope that is not the case. I can't see why it would.

The call on the phone was quite painless, here is how my price package came out

HD only programming w/locals
34.99

Lease Receiver Fee
7.00

DHPP
6.00

DVR Fee

6.00

Total
53.99

It was immediatly changed on the programming guide. It is better that what I was hoping because you get the standard def version of every channel. I know that was a concern of people. You still get the 9000 range and the map downs. So whatever was happening in the 5000 range doesnt have to do with this package as of yet anyways. It seems pretty slick, I am glad I did it.

The only bad thing is, I was hoping they would have just taken all the other info crap channels out of there, but no can do. They even threw in QVC for free.
A lot of fees don't you think?

I debated a long time in my head, and I was paying those fee's before anyways. As far as I know I don't have a choice in paying them. I just don't watch any SD tv. So I guess I just accept the fact that I am saving about. 25-30 bucks by doing this and be happy with it.

Without trying to sound slick, are you not paying these fee's

For some reason, I did not think there was a "lease" fee and dvr fee.

Do you have to pay for locals to get OTA local guide data?

By all means, if I am paying to many fee's I would be more than willing to take advice from you guys. I have paid these ever since I went with my 622.

I have never been without my subscribed locals, but I heard that you will lose actual guide information for OTA, you would end up having to set manual timers.

Where did you get that, the impression I get is that $29.99 is all you pay unless you add options like locals and or Premiums, no HD Enabling fee for this pack, this time around.
Do a "Dish Build" like a new customer and you will see the $7 HD Enabling fee even with a 24 month commitment.

BTW Dish Build does not add the $7 HD Enabling fee when you get AT100 and above with any add-on HD package. So you don't get charged a "HD Enabling fee" if you get SD - DUH.

Sorry I have a newbie question. What is the DHPP fee for?

Well, I decided to be an early adopter on this one...

According to Noel who was very helpful:
$29.99 for the dishHD stand-alone pack
$05.00 for the locals
$05.98 for the DVR fee
$06.00 for the lease fee
=====
$46.97

I have all the HD channels (of course) with the same channel assignments and mapdowns. SD versions of each channel are also available (i.e. HGTV shows different programming for the SD and HD versions). Locals are still available in SD, as are all the public interest and sky angel channels.

Dish Builder for me for one 722 showed $29.99(dishHD) + $5(locals) +$5.98(Dvr fee) =$40.97.

Built it w/o 24 month commitment. Saw nothing about $7 enabling fee.

The 7.00 fee I am paying is for lease fee. Am I the only one paying this. I thought it was simple, you lease a receiver- you pay a lease fee.

Am I wrong about this.

If I do the dishbuilder now, will it override what I already. I am thinking I might have been juked.

I know the DHPP is optional- I heard you can cancel that and just pick it up if you need it, is that true.

You have the DVR advantage, I think some of your fee's are embedded into your price or not there at all. So that could be where the differences are going to be for people also.

I do agree that 35 for the service and 18 for the fees is pretty messed up now that I think about it.

Correct. If you click on the additional fees question mark, even with one receiver, it states $12.98 which breaks down as a $7 HD enabling fee, and a $5.98 DVR fee.
