I would MUCH RATHER pay an UPFRONT fee than pay for it EVERY MONTH of my existance with them .... my local cable company charges $ 18 p/m for a HD DVR, thats PER MONTH for EACH ONE .... so I would pay $ 72 in recvr fees every month with cable, PLUS the programming.

See that's what annoys me the most. Charge me $200 for a box or charge me $5-$10 a month to rent it. I'd actually prefer to buy as well. I agree that these things cost a few hundred dollars at best. Even throw in a 1-2 year committment with an ETF if $200 doesn't cover the cost (which i think it does). But what annoys me the most is how they do all three.
