Ok i will be a new customer in the next week as my DirecTV installation date is set for the middle of next week. I purchased the HD DVR unit. I have a few questions. What should I expect come installation day? Are there certain questions I should ask the installer or check that the latest HD DVR box is supplied? What is the latest model of the HD-DVR receiver? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The Instalation should be straight forward. The only question to ask is to make sure they have a multiswitch and run the second line to the dvr. If it has to be phished through the wall there may be a charge for that. You should have the latest hddvr they offer.

But then again if this was a perfect world :)

Multiswitch? Why would th OP need a multiswitch for 1 HD-DVR (the latest model of which is the HR-21)?

getting a multiswitch installed free would prevent any problems down the road if you need many lines in the house, like 3 dvr receivers, etc. wouldnt it?

If you are in the Mississippi and Alabama area, I would expect a phone call from your installer's company (Brewster's Associates) and they will give you a lame excuse and get you to reschedule.:D They will do it three install days in a row too.:)

That is when you say " that is ok, I will just stay with Dish":D

If you have any preference of where the dish should be placed, discuss it before he/she starts. I couldn't tell your location from your post, but one thing to consider if it's appropriate where you are is that it's nice to have the dish within reach in case you need to clear snow or freezing rain off of it. No luck in my case, my neighborhood is so heavily wooded that the dish could only go on top of my two-story house in order to have line of sight
