New AZbox receivers coming?

The MINI-me compared to the Azbox ME

Mini-me operating system- Linux - Neutrino HD

Azbox ME operating system – Linux-Neutrino HD – Android 2.2

The Mini-me does NOT have a slot for an internal hard drive,

The video memory is half of what is in the Azbox ME.

The Working Memory is half of what is in the Azbox ME.

The Flash Memory is half of what is in the AzBox ME

The CPU chip is different then in the AzBox ME

The processor in the Mini-Me is SMP-8653

The processor in the Azbox ME is the SMP- 8655

(See post # 29 on difference in Processor)

Mini-Me--No USB port on the front like the Azbox ME has.

The Mini-me will have a front panel light versus the 11 digit Front Panel Display that is on the Azbox ME.

Some difference on the back panel also.

Thanks for continued info Stargaze. Hopefully you have one on order? :)

For those interested, Neutrino is simultaneously being developed (probably by the same dev team) for the Elite/Premium/Ultra/Premium+ receivers.

A DVB-T tuner isn't the same as an ATSC tuner. ATSC is packetized as DVB, more or less, but ATSC uses a different modulation system. I keep hearing that there's supposed to be an ATSC tuner for the AZbox line, but I don't see it on the site you linked to.

We have ATSC tuners available right now for the AzBox Elite or Premium (not plus). The only issue is that the current software is unstable when viewing ATSC channels. Fixing this issue is a top priority right now, especially with the digital TV transition in Canada taking place at the end of this month.

There should soon be a new firmware version soon that fixes the stability issues when using the ATSC tuner. This and fixing Youtube are currently the top priorities.

P. S. DVB-T is not the same thing as ATSC. DVB-T is what they use for local channels in Europe and other countries while ATSC is what we use over here in North America and a few other countries.

Thank you!

So, would it be a safe move to go ahead and purchase either an Azbox Elite or Premium tuner and the ATSC tuner add-in at this time?
The fix would simply be a file to upload into the tuner box to correct the current problem? Or is there the chance that the problem is more complex than that and would require new hardware or some sort of hardware upgrade?

I would like to get the stuff now, before it goes away and is replaced with newer stuff with fewer features / reduced capabilities.

Thank you! :)

It's September, any updates on a release schedule for the new boxes?

It should also be noted that the AZBox Elite does not have blind scan.

This is only speculation but I don't think the OS/software is completed.

a vid of an unboxing of the ME...

unclear if its running E2 or Neutrino out the box, but what about blindscan, i cant imagine thats in the image...?

also some info:

Someone from a Greek forum send email to Opensat and the answers are

Dear Mr. T.....,

I will try to answer You as much as possible accurate on Your questions:

1. AzBox Me will come with installed Neutrino HD software, and however trough Web Interface You will be able to install 2 more operating systems, so in total You can have 3 different softwares on Your device.

2. Yes, our tuner support this values for xPSK , and we as our old models support Live feeds in format 4:2:2 natively. Blindscan is supported by our hardware, and we will add blindscan support in first software update, as in defualt one it is not added.

BEst Regards

I don't care what OS it runs as long as it works.

But...

It's been this long since the announcement and they STILL don't have blindscan working? Why not?

Based upon current releases of Enigma2 and Neutrino, which have both been said to be OS's for the ME, I have not seen any blindscan plugin released yet however the_Ripper does say its coming. Also, the_Ripper has stated that he will release a version of Neutrino for current generation AZbox receviers, which would be most welcomed.

the you tube videos in the link you posted above show the ME running Enigma2 in one clip and Neutrino in the other.
