Dish would already be owners of Sprint if it weren't for SoftBank's far more deep pocketed and influential "dirty pool" they played to keep Dish from getting Sprint. Even Ergen knows how small his companies are compared to the Goliaths who have far more well funded and represented lobbying in D.C. and lots more money to throw around at the right people.
I really do wish Dish well in the wireless biz because there do need to be more players, not a merger of Sprint and T-Mobile, nor anymore obscene mergers we have witnessed as of late, but Dish is still gonna be the small guy in the wireless biz, and almost anywhere it ventures.
