that must be the 4:2:2 feeds on that sat

That's how I find Anik F1R. I use my Pansat on those 4:2:2 feeds. Some time I need to see if the Visionsat decodes them? I bet it will. I think there CTV feeds.

I like using the Pansat to look for signal when peaking a ku dish from scratch. I know just what to expect on the meter and how it responds just before quality hits. I usually see the signal increase a few points first, than the quality bounces between 10 & 99, then the quality meter starts responding and increasing. Then just peak the dish on bird. Easy as 123 :)

Ice have you ever seen any stuff go FP where any box can get it like if there having problems on Shaw? Any free previews on an subbed box probably go to "U" mode. It would be interesting to see if a box that was just unsubscibed would pick up the "U" stuff. I think once it goes OC (old category) or old monthly keys. It can only see FP and ZK.

unsubbed wont get the freeview or U stuff. Only FP or ZK. My old 205 hasnt got free previews when I know the 505 did ;)

Which west * satellite is AnikF1 located up there? I could not find it on the LIST. What kind of programs?

107.3W

There isnt really anything free on it in DVB which is what our FTA receivers are. But if you have a previously subbed Starchoice (Shaw Direct) receiver you can get a few freebie channels

a 4DTV can pick them up but make sure its the 905 model. The 920 & 922 once it sits on that sat will download the maps and overload the memory requiring a master reset

There is also a few PPV promo channels.

Talking about F1R and the Starchoice maps. I wonder about two things. If Motorola quit supporting the 4DTV I wonder if the *Choice maps would allow us the Satellite icons since I think you can still use a DSR 921? I also heard that when the TDT is overflowed on the 920 and 922 it don't take any new satellite & map updates. If Motorola tried to send a global turn off to all the 4DTV's that tried to remove stuff we have (like generics) in our 4DTV's, if we overflowed the TDT using F1R prior there global shutoff off the maps would not be recognized by our receivers.

I did finish up my repointing of my ADTH this past week too. It's now pointed at AMC-4 and G-19.

Ku birds list:

AMC-9, 90 Cm Primestar.
AMC-4, 84 Cm ADTH.
G-19, 84 Cm ADTH.
Anik F1R, Modified Dish 500.
Direct tv 101, 18" Dss dish. (looking at directs guide)

C band: Motorized Unimesh 12XL. 40w to 143w.

Total 5 dishes. My neighbors have to think I've gone beyond nuts :D

Nice project TVROPRO.

Does that get all the channels? When I have my 905 pointed there it seems like many channels mapped in are missing. I was guessing the rest were on Anik F2- 111.1°W ??

Theres channels numbers there that don't lock. I think there for Anik's other bird.

do you have a list?

Anything in the 700's are French and are on F2. The ENglish channels on F2
350 APTN
420 NFL Net
559 EWTN
298 CBC Regina (but its 8PSK so most older receivers cant see it)

I can get these on my DSR-4200V, and my Digitrans DTE-7150 too. :)
My DSR-410 will lock the signal but shows no video.

Last weekend I tried to do the same with another bird.I got a good result with mini dish 500 aimed to T-12.Usually I have Quality about 60-65.Here I post a few picks

These Dish 500's are better than I thought for FSS stuff. They are plentiful too and free. I have been looking at the smaller dishes on houses around this neighborhood lately and would like to score a globalcast or a larger direct tv HD dish to mess around with too. Have to keep my eyes open. :)

U Right !!!
All you have to do is find a focal point for LNB.Once you do it right? all is a piece of cake. Its a good training with finding a signals on the sky. Also a lot of fun.You can practycly use a Dishh 500 for all major tru fta birds on Ku bands

Update

Seems like it holds up pretty good in the rain. Over the weekend it was raining here and I was getting a low of 63 to 66 Q I thought it would drop out with any rain but it had quite a bit to go to threshold 35-40 Q :)

Decided to play with dish a bit tonight

Was sitting around and thinking how much I can get out of that 21.5" dish. So I went outside and messed with it. I picked up a bit more. I played with the feedhorn and the azimuth the elevation was maxed. I actually slid the LNB closer to the dish and turned the skew just a bit. Thats all there is now. Used EBNO to peak, love EBNO peaking :D This thing is doing great for it's size.

The one thing with these mini dishes on FSS ku, adjustments are very touchy. Not a project for the guy in a hurry.
