Today, my $5.00 off for HBO for six month ran out, and forgetting I set my account to discontinue as of today, it did, though I had mentally planned on continuing at full price. So, no HBO, gone.

On a WHIM, I did a "chat" just hours later, and I ended up getting HBO and Showtime half off for six months, just by asking if I could get a deal, like several times before. So, FYI...

DISH been good to me!

Same here; not that uncommon...I'm on my 3rd round of $5/6 months of BB, along with $5 off HBO & SHO, after having both FREE f/3 months, then 1/2 off for 6 months! I never got deals this good out of D*, or Comcast (no surprise THERE!)... :D

That's funny ..... I asked DIRT member MattG earlier this week about some loyalty incentive since I was an 11 year top programing tier customer. I told him I did not want to reduce service level, just wanted a perk. This was his suggestion and then he concluded with:

If you wish to lower your bill we can always downgrade your programming. You can also refer people to our service for $50 for each person who signs up.
There are no offers I can extend at this time.

Well that seemed a bit lame so I asked another DIRT member MikeH the same thing ... never got a reply.

I decided to call Dish, got the loyalty department, and they did in fact take care of me so KAB is right ... never hurts to ask .........

Mike H. has been out of the office all week.

Just an update...my promos on my above post all ran out, so I called to get rid of HBO & SHO (can't keep up with ALL the stuff still on my DVR's & the only series I did watch are on hiatus ...) but I did want to keep BB f/$5, as there are some of those channels I do watch regularly. (but it is simply NOT worth $10/month, especially since the ONLY thing I watch IS those extra channels; don't ever buy any BB movies, etc.)
I simply told the CSR all this, & w/out hesitating, he re-upped my BB $5/6 months again...easy peasy! :)

You don't buy blockbuster movies. The blockbuster on demand content is included with bb@home at no additional cost.

Well there you go, since I had no interest in them & have SO much other stuff to watch, I didn't know this...so you're saying there is NO BB content that costs extra then? (a la PPV?)

I think this post shows that some posters have been spoiled by the presence of DIRT.
Disagree with your generality. BUT, someOne does like to "pick and stir" whenever he sees an opportunity..
