I have a wireless network using WPA2-PSK encryptionI have a hdDVR HR24-500 part of Whole-Home setup.
I have a wireless network adapter CCK provided by DirecTv connected to the HR24-500.
I have several laptops, tablets and cell phones.
My wireless home network is flawless regarding the access to the internet by all my devices..........................but my TV!
I tried the help of DirecTv technical support. The script has been ran several time for several days to no avail.
I connected an ethernet cable from the router to the CCK. I ran the network setup selecting the option "wired" and I got access to the internet.
But the setup failed repeatedly when I select the option "wireless". It failed using the "WPS" method and it failed using the normal method.
In this case the password of the router is rejected.
Now I rely on the experience and the knowledge of the Forum members to help me fix the issue.

As a side note, after several contacts with the technical support, I requested the visit of a technician within the frame of my Protection Plan.
I have been told that the technician might or might not charge me for his/her visit. I refused to go that way. Not by greediness but by principle.
What is the real use of a PP for which I pay the premium for several years now?
I have a hard time understanding the modus operandi of DirecTv.
What do you think?

Not everything is covered by the standard pp. The advanced one covers pretty much everything. Did you check to see what your plan covers?

Did you still have it connected to the router when you tried the wireless setup? If yes, you need to have the ethernet cable completely disconnected from the CCK or it will fail every time.
Did you pay VERY close attention to Capital letters? This is a big fail point on wireless connections.
Since it got to the password screen, it was obviously wired to the coax right, and you saw and selected your network...
Only things I can think of are making sure the ethernet is disconnected from the CCK and double-check the network key (Password).
Edit.. If you were able to connect it to the router, and the receivers connected that way, then why change it to wireless? Wired is way more dependable. Just curious.

OK. Call me stupid. But, if I were in your shoes, I would make sure you have things set up for DHCP addressing, make sure your gateway is set correctly then turn things off. Now unplug your receiver and let it sit for about 30 seconds and plug it back in. Let things come up normally. When they are up, take a look at the IP addressing on your receiver. It should be populated with the standard 192.168.0.x where x is the value given to it by your wireless router. Tell us what you see after you do these steps. If you don't see a value like this it gives us a better understanding of what to do next.

Note: You should also be able to see a device called "Direc..." on your router device table.

And I hate to bad mouth installers because, in general, they do one heck of a great job. But, this whole CCK/network thing is really new to most of them and most are at the bottom of a rather steep learning curve. So, even having an installer come out to your house may be a lengthy experience. The collective knowledge on this board is probably better than most installers can provide. So, I think you are smart to seek advice here.

Thank you all for your valuable input.I'll try to answer all your questions in order to get your additional assistance.
1- I have the standard PP.
2- I did not let the ethernet cable connected every time I tried the wireless setup. I am well aware of the capital letters. The
length of the password is a combination of 16 capital, small caps and numbers. Geographical and practicability make me
selecting the wireless route.
3- When I start the IP address on the receiver does not reflect the router IP. On the Tv screen the IP is 169.254.xx.xx. IP router
is 192.168.....
Restoring defaults does not change the values. Pressing "connect" yields 2 errors: IP address and Default Gateway. And I do
not know how to handle those errors.
Advance setup brings the SSID of my wireless network but the password is not accepted.
The "attached devices" on the router window does not show anything resembling "DirecTv". I even compared the Mac address
shown on the TV screen with the several showing on the router setup.
As far as the installer is concerned I have only positive things to say about him. If I remember correctly ( the installation was
4-5 months ago) he entered my router password during the installation. But I never use the feature until last week when I
decided to go the internet way (mainly for DirecTv on my mobile gears).

The 169.254.. IP address is actually correct. Thats the default addressing for the MOCA network, the built in networking over the coax lines. All HD receivers will default to that addressing if they are not connected to a router with DHCP enabled.
Your Router wont show the DirecTV as connected until it actually connects.
Have you reset the CCK.. Theres a small hole/button to do the reset with (You need a paperclip or a pen to push it).. I copied the following off the Directv.com forums.. its the reset process:
Use a ball point pen to reset the CCK in the small hole on the back and hold for a minimum of 30 seconds. Then disconnect AC power from the CCK. Check that the router has DHCP enabled (essential) and has no MAC filtering or firewall enabled. Assure that the network name and password contains no symbols other than numbers and letters.

Thanks for the direction because when I did a reset few days ago I just pressed for a few seconds, not 30 seconds, and I did not disconnect AC powerfrom CCK.
?I will performed this sequence.

I did the sequence, checking the router settings. No connection ( due to home activity I just tried the WPS route).
I also enter the CCK in the "attached devices" list in the router setup, entering the MAC address found at the bottom of the CCK. Nothing happened.
?I will restart again later on.

I think I will return the CCK. Resetting the router did not bring anything positive ( changed the SSID and the password to no avail).
I will do on tablets and cell phones without DirecTv.
?Thank you all for your help and input.

I made a last attempt and finally I got the system connected to the internet.
I made a mistake in changing the SSID. I corrected it and I kept the same password. It worked and it is still working. Maybe I will keep the CCK.
Depending of what DirecTv intends to do for the owners of android devices (specifically Nexus 10, nexus 7, and Nexus 4). For the Galaxy Nexus the choice of shows is very limited so far( I have the "Extra" programming).
