Network Connection Setup ? - HR34 & HR24

I have both an HR34 (with 2 clients) and HR24. Installer connected the router to the CCK and it seemed to cause my router to go in and out often. I removed the router connection from the CCK and plugged it directly into the HR34. I haven't seen any issues since I changed the wiring and all devices seem to stay constantly connected to router (including HR34)....am I causing myself any issues by connecting directly to the receiver?

Any other tricks to ensure the connection is as stable as possible and doesn't conflict with other devices trying to access the same network.
