Netflix resolution on Hopper 3?

I don't pay for the 4K Netflix (yet). So what is the resolution when watching on the Hooper 3? Am I at least getting 1080P?

The Netflix show description shows the resolution, most I have seen show 1080. I don't recall seeing p or i. Same with smart TV, Roku and Hopper3.

if you pay for the utlra 4k package on netflix u must have 25 mpbs or higher to stream ultra4k i have 24 using frontier and i cannot stream ultra4k yet until frontier lays fiber or if you have mediacom they are starting to offer after the first of next year the higher package they have 200mpbs down and 20up. your tv should show on the top if you have a ultra 4ktv your resolution will show 2160p when you are using the netflix app on your hopper 3 dvr

Many times when entering the Netflix and Youtube apps, a pink screen appears. This is an HDMI handshaking problem between the H3 and the 4K tv. Not saying it will happen on your TV, but it happens on my 4K LG OLED a lot.

Sometimes unplugging and plugging back in the HDMI cable fixes it.

I don't have the Netflix 4K either because I don't have a 4K TV. Now, to answer your question, I just tested that from my Hopper 3. When I went to Netflix my TV immediately told me that it changed from 1080i to 1080P. When I went back to Dish TV it reverted to 1080i. So that is the answer Netflix is 1080P.

Yes, Netflix will stream up to 1080p, but only if you have enough bandwidth. For example, if you have DSL, you probably will not be able to stream 1080p. You will most likely get 720p with DSL speeds. Here is a chart showing netflix bitrates and resolutions. I think Netflix has a few new bitrates/resolutions that may not be listed, but you get the idea:

Wow! You are lucky. For most customers, DSL speeds are not nearly that good!

I second it's whatever Netflix sends you. I however don't usually watch it through Dish as my Samsung TV is a lot faster, and has a better UI. (And don't even get me started on the 4K Joey...Netflix coming soon!)

Netflix looks the same though Dish as it does direct from my Sony TV app and the TV indicates 3840 x 2160. Netflix 4K video looks great on my TV as does YouTube 4K from my TV app. (The Dish YouTube app doesn't work for me. I get the YouTube logo then it goes back to regular Dish service. This is discussed in another thread.)

I am able to watch Netflix 4K programming using the Netflix app on the Hopper 3. Two major conditions: you must subscribe to the higher tier level with Netflix to gain access to their 4K programming and you must have sufficient bandwidth. My cable internet service (here in L.A.) with Spectrum is now 60+ mbps, which is more than adequate. On occasion, I have to restart Netflix (using the help menu) after log-in to "clear the pipe" to enable the 4K content to stream. Not a big deal. Also, make sure your Hopper 3 is connected properly to your UHD set using the newer HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 protocols.

For a 4K TV, the Netflix app on the H3 does seem to put the TV in 4K mode. While watching Netflix for example via the H3, my TV reports the source as 2160P.

I do NOT however pay for the Netflix 4K package, so I know I am not getting 4K content from Netflix. To confirm, I used the Netflix app on my TV. With the same program it reported 1080P.

Now, if Dish has some sort of agreement with Netflix to deliver 4K regardless of the Netflix package ... that would be sweet. It appears however that the Netflix app and the H3 are still a work in progress.

I have doubt if not subbed to 4K you get it. Thing about many devises they tell you what you want. My Sony shows 1080i even on channels I know are only 720p broadcast like ABC, ESPN. Thing I really like about FireTv it has a builtin app called X-Ray that doesn't fib when in advanced mode. Otherwise it will show 1080 60fps for the HDMI input but once in advanced it may show 720 at 30fps ( just example).

If you watch a show on Netflix on the H3 clicking the info button on the remote gives me a resolution in the upper right corner pf the screen. I varies a little depending on connection but I can get consistent 2160 on 4k shows

The Hopper converts 720p to 1080i before sending to your TV if the Hopper is set to 1080. There's no native option like at DTV.
