Neighbor installing 3 Satellites?!?..

Tdogg, sorry I didnt have any real beef with you, just a certain reply to your initial post. However I knew as soon as I saw this thread that people would jump on the "HES A HACKER BURN HIM AT THE STAKE" bandwagon :)


To answer the original question, no he doesnt need 3 dishes to feed a single E* or D* install, but he could be running both, or other providers in which case he would. Since you did offer to help, and it seemed to scare him inside, I am willing to bet he really doesn't want to share what hes trying to do :)

Can you get us some pics of his receivers? Or better yet, some pics of his wife in the shower :D Just kiddin!!!
 
I probably should have noted that our houses are like 6ft apart. And there is no seperation of land. Meaning no fence. We actualy share the same patio stone path which goes to both of our yards. So it wasnt like I snuck onto his property to secretly take pictures..

I'm not saying that all HOA committee members have nothing better to do than poke around their neighbours back yard measuring the distance between their fenceposts to see if it's within acceptable limits, it was merely an observation..

I ran for and won a position on my HOA board just to stop the busybodies. :D We've gone from 5-1 to 3-3. Next election should give the good guys a 2-4 or 1-5 majority. ;)
 
:shiver: I can't imagine living that close to someone. That's as bad as apartments or rowhouses (now known as townhomes to remove the sigma). If I look through the trees, I can see 2 other houses from my place and that's more than enough.

Sure he is. Before he got 101, and the second dish added 119. No, there wasn't a rocket launch from his back yard ... but as far as his system goes, he added the satellite to the set of those available to be received.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

BTW: As far as the rest of the titles go, they all get to be context relative. We talk about the satellite at 110, but there are actually two E* satellites there (as well as one launched by D*). When needed, we can talk about orbital locations, and most call the satellites by name or orbital location ... very rarely to you hear about a satellite at 109.8 or 110.2. It's just too picky.

Getting the MESSAGE across is much more important than dickering over words that were not really misunderstood.

I agree with what you're saying, but coming at it from a troubleshooter's standpoint, I've heard "satellite" used for:
  • the orbital position(consumers don't know there's more than one actual bird)
  • the dish and associated hardware
  • the receiver
  • the TV attached to the receiver
Makes it hard to explain things - especially over the phone or by text.

thats the only one I dont get... I could understand the reciever, can really understand the dish, and well the actual sat is a no brainer
 
It was a house where some TVs had cable, others OTA, and one had a satellite receiver hooked to it. ;)

The point is, the same word means different things to different people based on where they're coing from - so I push for clarity. :)
 
Just some obsurvations

Yes as someone pointed out that pansat switch does come with the 2500 which is currently if alter in a unauthorized way can steal programming He may or may not be doing this. I am not going to comment slander on the man as I just dont know.

Some might think me a pirate actully My neighbor did and she called dish network signal intergerity department and direct tv. Guess what I got free months of service from both of them for putting me though all this hassle of being investag gated.

Why.... Because I had 5 satellite dishes I must be up to no good.

Lets break down my 5

1. DTV classic dish 101 - for my nfl sunday ticket only package from DTV ( two lines coming down from it to my dtvtivo.

2. DP 500 twin
3. DP single at 61.5 connecting with the dp twin 500 with a dp34 switch handles a 301 and a 721
4. Legacy 500 twin
5. legacy single tied to legacy 500 twin with sw64 that handles 3 7200s.

I spearated rated legacy from dish pro as dp 7200 did not work well wit hthe dish pro adapter..

Hes setup looks a little fishy but I am not one to question it. I mean if youare over at the man s house and he getting 20 porno channels and dish ppv on that pansat well i would call but you better see it doing illegal things with your own eyes.
 
From looking at the setup from the pictures, I am goig to say he is stealing signals. I highly doubt he has it setup for 100 audio channels :)
He isnt using different receivers because it all runs into a 4x1 switch

Its a thief...plain and simple

I have 5 dishes on my roof and my neighbor just shakes his head
-30" for FTA
-24" for Expressvu 82
-30" for ExpressVu 91
-Dish500 for Dish Network
-Dish300 for local for must carry
 
Iceberg... i am 100 percent sure he using pansat 2500 with illegal firmware flash. But my problem is that he cant go and call the Dish. There just no point. as soon as that little neighbor of his gets a letter from Dish Network Signal intergery departmment he will have that thing flash back to normal and watching the nasa channel. And the cops dont have enough to go in and search the place, just because the guy has 3 dishes up and they happen to tied to a single switch. Let the guy blow his money he is just going to be pisted with dish gets serious and starts hammering priates with ecms back on a weekly basis.

Well your neighbor is 78 years old and does not watch the news all the time can gets crazy ideas that her neighbor is a pirate.
