Need to identify satellite

Hi,

I am looking for any documentation that describes the USID (Unique Satellite Information Data) system? Does it really exist? An Internet search provides hundreds of links to a Birdog meter; but so far, nothing describes the technique.


Any help is greatly appreciated.

if your talking about meter information that ID's a certain satellite , usually the meter companies load a specific TP unique to that satellite to gain a positive ID for the meter.its not 100% cause if your off several satellites you might run into that same tp used by another satellite causing a false ID. its also why i just settle on a actual receiver when outside tuning a satellite. it works just as well but tends to be bulky for someone who installs a lot of dishes.
