Need to convert from HDMI out to SVGA In

My existing projector has an SVGA in and with a PC it works fine. The Sony AV receiver I want to add to the room has an HDMI out. Will adapters convert the signal correctly? Is there anything I need to look out for?

Isn't HDMI digital only and SVGA (HD15) output analog? Where some DVI can carry analog & digital signal for conversion to component or HD15; I don't think HDMI will.
