Hooking up a new Dish Net 622 HDTV DVR to my 37" Olevia HDTV.

Having difficulty getting the screen to stretch past 4x3 to expand the full length of the screen.

When I am in the Dish Program Guide, it takes up the entire screen (Full Screen), but when I exit the menu or guide, it goes to a 4x3 aspect.

I've tried changing the aspect of the TV and played with the 622 HDTV settings, but I'm unsuccessful.

I currently DO NOT have HDTV programming, just the receiver.

The options for my TV screen settings are as follows:

1. Full
2. 4x3
3. 16x9

The Dish 622 HDTV settings are as follows:

Analog Type:

Cable
IRC
HRC
Offair

TV Type

480i
480p
720p
1080i

Aspect

16x9
4x3 #1
4x3 #2

I have the Dish 622 connected to the TV via a set of composite cables (yellow, red, white). Picture is good, sound coming through.

I just can't get the screen to stretch full screen.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Bob

Keep the TV in 16:9 mode.

Select 16:9 in the 622 setup menu.

use the format button on the 622 remote (the * key) to toggle between widescreen modes.

I think that will get what you want.

Edit: I just noticed the composite part. Composite is low resolution 4:3 only. You are wasting the 622's potential with this setup. You really should get an HDMI cable (<$15 at monoprice.com, or $30 at Wal-mart, target, etc. Look for the Belkin or Phillips brands, and absolutely stay away from monster). You probably can't get what you want with composite cables.
