I managed to acquire an old adventist system (Fortec Lifetime Ultra + Single ku LNB 36" rig). While I have no real use for it myself, I have a friend I was going to set it up for. He doesn't have any pay tv subscription and watches local OTA using an el cheapo DTV converter box as his main source of TV. I was thinking of G19 since there's a channel on there running old black&white movies he would probably like. However, he's more keen to news programs, NPR radio type programs, conservative talk shows, etc. I was looking through The List! but it has a lot of stations I'm not familiar with. I was hoping that an avid FTAer could point out some satellites that might be suited to his tastes. I might consider adding a motor but haven't really researched that yet. Besides, I don't know how well the Fortec can scan for things like unpublished wild feeds etc.

Awhor, 97w is a good choice plenty of radio and Tv there. Al Jaz, Russia Today, Kuwait Tv 2 are good, MHZ, and more. I have a Fortec Dynamic receiver and it has a very good blindscan as well. With a motorized dish there's even more. 83 west has RTV..Retro Tv 2 channels east and west. History and Biography at 101W, and a fair amount of PBS on 125W. With the PBS stuff you need to be able to decode the AC3 dolby. Unless he has a stereo etc.. that will do it you can pick up a Sonic Voom cheap on Ebay that will decode it. All depends on how complicated you want to make things and how much stuff you want to watch. Hope that helps....Blind

What are you trying to say? NPR and conservative talk shows are like oil and water, In My Opinion
