Greetings,

I know this is not the place to post items for sale, but I wanted to see if anyone could give me an opinion about selling my Inspiron 5150:

The specs are:
Pentium 4 3.06 Ghz
30 GB HARD DRIVE
2 GB RAM
CDRW/DVD-ROM
Windows XP Home Edition

The machine is in great condition and is hardly used (thus the reason for the sale). 1 of the 2 USB Ports is not working/broken and the ac adapter cord has a "tear," so I am throwing in a 4 Port Hub as well as a Targus Carrying Case

I was going to ask $400 . . . is that too much to ask for?

Thanks for opinions!

I personally think that is way to much to ask for the laptop. I think you would be lucky if you were to get even $200 for it.

dual cores are selling at pawn shops for around $300 and the price range on craigslist for dual cores ranges from $250 - $900. Single cores such as yours in that config run $200 - $250, given the condition and issues expect to get around $150 - $175 but to also have a sell time of 60 - 90 days.

I would ask $200 but be prepared to take a little less. Try craigslist and see what your local market is for similar machines. Keep in mind that if you are looking at it on craigslist that is because someone doesn't want it at the price they are asking (otherwise it would already be sold and the listing removed.) If you watch the sales you can easily get a new retail store laptop for $400 with a warranty and return policy.

Yep. Laptops decline in value rapidly as you exit the store where you just bought it. Faster than cars, even.
