Hello all im new here I am a satellite engineer and live in wales united kingdom, As you may know most of eurpoe use ku-band but there is alot of c-band over the sky's here from the south america and middle east and africa etc, so i have only ever installed ku-band and v-sat dishes

I am useing a 1.2m andrew's (channel master) and want to have a play about with C-band i have a few questions and hope you guy's can help me out,

1. Where can i buy channel master C-band feedhorn(s) as i can not get hold of them here in the uk

2. on the andrew website there is two feedhorn's for C-band one C-band linear and another for C-band circular is there any way of useing just one C-band feedhorn for both circular & linear or do i need to get both feedhorns

3. When i get the C-Band feedhorn do i just bolt it on to the LNB or do i need a mechanical polarizer or magnetic polarizer or are C-band LNB's like modern KU-band lnb-f or c-120 LNB's which use 13 & 18 volts to change polarity

4. Any one know a good cheap C-band lnb to buy and some where that stocks them and ships to the uk,

Sorry about all the questions guys i hope you can help

Hello again!

I use the Voltage controlled BSC-421 C-Band LNBF, its all controlled by the receiver just like a Ku LNBF. It will also work for Circular C-Band signals by inserting the Dielectric plate that comes with the LNBF. (As does a scalar ring)

I got it from DMSi one of their dealers may ship to the good old UK.

There is also a C/Ku band available from the same company, see below pictures....

Hi again that c-band lnb-f would not work on my 1.2m offset andrew dish as they are for prime focus only i need to use the feedhorns in the link below

http://www.andrew.com/search/BN_PA-100530-EN.aspx

Also this is the dish i have

http://www.andrew.com/search/BN_PA-100547-EN.aspx

could i use a andrews c-band linear feedhorn and put a Dielectric plate in to get circular

Is it possable to get to get voltage switching c120 flange c-band lnb's

The above LNBF's have been used with off-set dish with success, but you are right they do perform better with a matched conical scalar ring. I use the below when using the above LNBF's on my off-set dish.
Just bolts right on both of the above LNB's

I just got a email back from andrews (channel master) and they said i would be better off just useing the proper feedhorns, I just got to fiind some where that sells them now,

Ok thanks for the pic's, IM going to try get hold of both the linear & circular feedhorns in this pdf http://www.andrew.com/search/BN_PA-100530-EN.aspx

Any ideas who sells them?

Also how would i then change polarity with the c-band lnb do they make a voltage switching one that i can bolt direct to the feedhorn?.

I guess by using the same principle you could if you could get it in there.

Here is a close up of how it is inserted into the LNB....

It says on the above link that the 611-6080-2 (Linear) is a single polarity feedhorn, looks like the wave guide can only go one way or another?

I might try this check it out its a magazine i get download it here and LOOK at page 59 C-BAND on a small offset fortec star dish

it a 15mb download but well worth the read
http://www.tele-satellite.net/magazine/TELE-satellite-0603-eng.pdf

Also check out other tele-satellite magazines here they are avery good magazine,

Also what do you think about this 1.8m fortecstar dish i can get one for £99.00 gbp thats about $180

The Fortec Star 1.8m is a good dish! fellow Mod. Iceberg has one and really likes it! You should have MUCH better results in the UK!

Thanks for the Maplin link :) I used to spend a LOT of time in their Great Western Rd. shop in Glasgow :) (Just across the rd. from the BEST curry house in the country!)

Hi mate do you think the BSC-421 C-Band LNBF you have will fit on and work with the 1.8m fortecstar as the dish is only £99 in maplin,

Also check you pm

as PSB noted, I have the 1.8m dish and love it. Its not motorized (I ghetto move it to the satellites) and really don't have any issues. With the 2 degree spacing we use here in the US, some signals are tough to get but all and all I'm happy with my results :)

Most of my satellites that I can see are about the same elevation so I just turn the dish :)
