Hey all,

I call myself a newbie, but I do have some experience with this stuff. Installed DirecTV dishes for a while, and played around with a friend's C-band BUD back in the day.

Here's my question: If you had to recommend ONE dish/receiver setup to someone like myself, what would it be? The caveat is: I want to get as much FTA stuff as I can, without using a BUD. I would go for the 1 meter dish with a motor.

The stuff that is listed on Lyngsat...is that Ku or C band, or both?

Thanks for any replies...I'm sure I'll have follow-up questions ;)

c band on lyngsat has 4 numbers so 4156 = c band
ku has 5 numbers ----------------- so 11780 = ku

and :welcome to the group

there is a giveaway at the top of the page. and most of the sponsers have a kit package

several receivers are well liked for FTA depends on who you ask which is the best Coosat 5000, Fortec Star Mercury II , Traxis 3500 are just a few .... there are several reviews over in the review section.
