I have a 211 that I bought at a local retailer right after they became available. I am 99.9% certain that the retailer requested I pay in cash and I cannot find a receipt anywhere.

That said, I just found out Dish decided to record this receiver on my account as 'Leased'.

Even if I can't produce a receipt, as they have requested, I think there should be enough evidence that I own it -- or at least did not lease it.

- I have a leased 622 with plenty of a record trail on my account to show it is leased. There is NO papertrail whatsoever that I leased the 211.

- I have asked Dish to produce evidence that the receiver was leased to me -- none so far. Not sure if this is even a valid argument.

- I haven't been able to reach my rep in the Executive Resolutions dept for about a week but want to ask her if she can see on my account when I activated the 211. Maybe there are notes that show I own it. Or at very least, maybe if I have the exact date I activated it, I can go back to the retailer and see if they have any record of selling me this unit around that time.

- I wasn't sure if retailers have to keep a record of all receivers that they get. If I can match my serial number to the retailer, it might help my case.

Any other adive? Other than make sure and get a receipt next time.

I discovered this error when trying to call Dish to give them more business with a Dishin It Up deal. But this has been more of a hassle than it should have been and it's leaving me feeling kinda hostile toward Dish for the first time in my 10 year history with them. Plus it's starting to make the fact that they have yet to agree to replace my leased 622 that has a faulty HDMI port more of an irritation to me.

Thx!

Interesting that he "requested" a cash payment.... Isn't it usually fishy when people/places do that ? That's usually an off-the-books or no-records kinda deal.... Did he give you a receipt or can't you remember ?

I agree that Dish should have to prove it's leased just as equally as you should have to prove it's not leased but they're in charge here, so they may not play the game that way.

The retailer SHOULD have record of the receiver based on it's R00 and S00 at least. Shoot, I can find the origin of a receiver I installed three years ago based on just the R00 if I really wanted to. Any reputable place will have some decent records of their inventory they receive from Dish. Good luck with that though!

I have one leased 211 and other that i own....Dish had both labeled as Leased...but no charge was there for the one i actually own. Call to see if that is the case of they way they just document it on the bill.

Thx for the advice. I did call the retailer and she said they keep a record of all the R00 records. I gave her my info and will follow up tomorrow.

My brother in law had the same problem with a 508. He bought it from ebay and Dish insisted he return it. He ended up just sending it back because he didn't need it anyway.

Cash can't be charged back or stop paymented like a cc/check transaction can. That's incentive enough right there.

what happened is that the idiot rep who added the r00 number to the account, marked it as leased.. what a n00b! The account tags it with the note on who aded the receiver, now sometimes installers can do it too trough the ivr i assume? Dont let them take your receiver!
