NBA Finals

Funny how everyone who thought Stan Van Gundy was a genius two weeks ago has nothing to say to that now.

You know who you are! ;)

Sandra

What did Stan Van Gundy do yesterday? Did he have to shoot free throws? Did he have to cover Kobe? When as ANYONE here said he was a "genius"?

Please, oh insightful one...what did he do yesterday to lose the game?

Superman missing the 2 free throws before Fisher's 3 that sent the game to OT. That was the game changer.

LMAO!! You cannot be serious!! They SUSPENDED Dwight for ONE GAME for something similar in the earlier rounds of the playoffs for almost the same thing.....and you LIKE the no call there??!! Kobe threw the ELBO...that is an offensive foul. Period. End of story.

....if you are standing there with the ball....and the defender just pushes you to the ground because he might fall....

..guess what...? It's still a foul. Too bad you might fall down and possibly hurt yourself....it's still a foul.

...so in recapping....too bad he had "no where to move" he threw an elbo and it was a offensive foul.

IF it had by your boy toy Lebron, you might sent a letter to the commissioner to have Kobe executed....LOL!

...."I like the no-call in that situation".....LMAO!! too funny....!

Nelson was coming up right into Kobe's grill and Kobe has every right to kick the ball out in a double team like that, it's not Kobe's fault that Nelson is 6" smaller than him and got caught with an elbow to the face on the pass out. I was LMAO on the replay.

VanGundy is the idiot who put Nelson in the game when Alston was tearing it up in the first half and then left him in there the whole 4th quarter. What did Nelson do, got an elbow to the face, gave Fisher a wide open 3 to tie the game and miss a bunch of rotations. Brilliant coaching again by VanGundy.

Someone sounds a little paranoid.

Sandra

LMAO! Paranoid?! Me? LMAO!! I was the ONLY person that actually predicted the Magic to BEAT Cleveland.....while most if not all here were litterally handing the NBA Championship to The King and his Royal Subjects in Cavalierland....

...not paranoid at all....;)

I think people listen too much to Shaq and HIS evaluation on head coaches.;)

LMAO....Well....you MUST have missed the 3rd quarter when Rafer was NOT playing well, especially in the TO department where the team was sort of standing still and throwing tha ball away all over the place. IF I am not mistaken, 9 of the 17 TO were in the 3rd quarter. Rafer was not playing well AT ALL and was not in when they played a much better and the team responded better with Nelson at the point guard.

...may not be Kobe's fault and more than likely it was not intentional...but it IS a foul when you swing elbow's all over the place. AND ANYONE that when down three later....you should be willing to give up a 2 point LAYUP instead of a WIDE OPEN 3....I am sure ANY COACH would have pointed it out....hell, EVEN YOU knew that....

....so how is that Van Gundy's fault....?! The player KNOWS what he is supposed to do....

...but nice try....;)

Nope, definitely saw the 3rd quarter, true Alston wasn't playing as well but the whole team wasn't doing anything. They put Nelson in he does okay for a few minutes but then starts to look a lackluster running the offense. I can't explain it, but it's up to the coach to recognize it and get that player out of there especially a player who's been out of action for a few months. So regarding Van Gundy, Nelson and Alston, I'll let this guy back me up...

Magic lost because Van Gundy hit panic button - FOX Sports on MSN

Regarding Kobe...swinging elbows all over the place is something you do when you try and wrestle control of a ball from another player, hence a jump ball. Nelson was on his way over when he got hit by the elbow on the kickout pass.

All in all, a badly officiated game. Missed call on the Pietrus foul on Kobe, missed call on Ariza getting the rebound from out of bounds. Joey Crawford and the boys looked pretty bad last night.

Ironically, his brother Jeff made your Knicks the most improbable team to make the NBA Finals in my lifetime- as a #8 seed!

They were a #8 with an asterisk that year. Lots of injuries during the regular season, but they were healthy come playoff time if I recall.

Not really. Ewing tore his achilles tendon in the ECF against Indiana yet the Knicks still won. That was the lockout shortened season anyway so the regular season records were pretty meaningless. The Spurs were really the only team that was as good as advertised.

I sometimes agree with Whitlock on some things....but sometimes I don't. And when writers CONSTANTLY complain about players "quitting" and "showing no heart"....to state IN THE SAME LINK:

Rafer Alston has every reason to go into the tank. I wouldn't blame him if he quit and refused to play on Sunday. Seriously.......

...loses credibility with me.

I have been a MAJOR complainer of Nelson playing over Alston....I have the post in here to prove it. But Alston was doing NOTHING with the team in the 3rd period...and the team actually for the 1st time RESPONDED with a little more energy with Nelson....so Van Gundy stayed with the team on the floor that was going with the good flow.

...in thise case, I think he is wrong. SO wrong that ONE former NBA coach...Stan Van Gundy...and another FUTURE coach and a VERY GOOD point guard in his day thought the same.
