I have an HR21-700. What is the purpose of the Native setting under HDTV? I find that when I set it to Off, changing channels is faster and there is much less flicker on the screen.

I leave it on and only have one resolution set for 1080i. This makes all shows go to 1080i. With native resolution on and you select all the other resolutions that your tv supports like 480i,480p,720p,1080i, you get flashes as the receiver will change to what that channel is presented in. So Sd channels will go to 480i or 480p and hd will go to 720p or 1080i. This causes delays in the picture as the receiver changes to the proper resolution.

My TV is 720p so I set native to ON and checked 720p only. This seems to stop the flickering.

It looked to me like the jump from SD to HD seemed a bigger hit than 720p and 1080i. I can't tell any difference in 480i or 480i converted to a pillar boxed 720p other than the thin side black likes that seem to get added in the upconversion.

My dog hates satellite TV.

Did anyone else lose programming today?
