Is there anyway to receive the national HD feeds from Direct TV? I have been denied the waivers and have spent nearly $300 on OTA equipment with little to no luck. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.

What antenna and preamp have you tried?

In April you will be able to ask for an HD signal test. According to www.antennaweb.org there's no DTV reception in 52501, so you'll fail and get the HD waiver. Because most CSR's can't understand the waiver process, use dnswaivers@directv.com instead.

Please don't be lured by the suggestions to break the law and lie about where you live.

Aren't the signal tests based on analog and not digital signals?

Digital test standards are not yet set. In December the FCC recommended to Congress that a similar system to analog be enacted. The next move is up to Congress. Yet, Congress has already set a test date of April 2006 for stations that will remain on their digital assignment and April 2007 for stations that will change digital channels in 2009.

Boy, the way Congress works, we will reach the forced transition to digital without Congress changing the testing methodology. No one will be broadcasting analog signals, which is how they will be required to test, no signal will be received, then EVERYONE qualifies for DNS! ;)
