All the Nascar races I've seen so far on FOX have been in HD. Just noticed that the race is in SD today. I just wondered what's going on.

It's in HD. At least for me with cable.

Remember Fox is a local channel, your affiliate may be the ones with the issue.

I thought the Fox "Splicer" was supposed to help eliminate this type of problem by making it automated?

How is that possible? Providers can only show what is being transmitted. If it is HD through the provider it should also be so OTA.

Well, the station is being transmitted through fiber to dish, not OTA. So its quite possible that a station trasmit something in HD over fiber but the OTA side could get left out. There could be something wrong with the Trasmittion plant for the OTA and not the Fiber plant.

Thanks guys. I checked OTA from FOX 6 in Birmingham, AL and it was also in SD. All of a sudden OTA and Dish Network local for WBRC FOX 6 is HD. This had to have been a local affiliate issue.

I called the local station in Birmingham and left a message with the engineer that the NASCAR race was not in HD. I didn't know if the engineer would get the message quickly or not but about 15 minutes after I called the broadcast switched to HD. Could be a coincidence....

No coincidence. Someone got the message and " flipped the switch"
