I was surprised to find that DN does not seem to be carrying a NASA channel (lyngsat listed) unencrypted as it did at least a few weeks ago. I checked with the NASA website which indicates that the only transmissions are in C-Band. Did DN make a lot of changes recently or do I need to re-tweak my dish? What size of a BUD would I need for these channels on AMC6?

NASA has been FTA on Dish for as long as I can remember (4 years now). IT was part of the agreement between Dish & NASA is that a previous subscribed Dish box can pick it up. So DIsh just made it FTA

I think you would need a 7 1/2 foot or larger for the AMC6 stuff. I can't see that far with my 6 footer to test it

Thanks, Iceberg. I just did a blind fta scan on 119W and get 13 video and 3 audio channels. Nearly all the video are DN support info, with some duplicated. For example there are 2 GOLTV. A manual scan on TP 11 which DN shows on their website as the tp for NASA yields 2 scramble channels.

I have just moved my dishes to a more permanent location, may be that is the reason I can't get NASA any more, although TP11 comes screaming in at 97% quality, so I think I am ok. Maybe something I forgot in the Coolsat setup... Or maybe DN is reorganizing their setup due to intro of HD...

Though I admit I've never tried it, I think AMC 6 might be one of those satellites an undersized dish might work fairly well on c band. If you'll notice the only satellite close to it that has C band signals on it is Brasilsat B4, and I suspect that it doesn't have any beams pointed at north america. Therefore it's likely you could get away with using an non 2 degree compliant reflector. For the folks who seem determined to put an C band LNB on a 1.0 or 1.2M reflector, this might be the satellite to aim for as it might be thier best chance for success.
