My Story: Left Dish after 7+ years.....

I dumped DISH back in March of 2004.

Directv is getting to be the same way with it's costs as well. Now with it's new leasing program I'm afraid they've fallen in the same boat as DISH.

When my wife and I move into a house later this year we are getting FiOS.

I just got FIOS installed last week and dropped Dish yesterday after three years with them. You will absolutely love it. I thought I had upgraded when I went to Dish from Comcast, but the PQ of SD channels is amazing with FIOS. I did not realize how soft the SD channels were on Dish until FIOS was installed. I cannot tell any difference with HD channels. I have more channels now and HD DVR to boot for the same price. Although, I did lose my the old package of Voom channels (lot of repeats), but replaced them with Starz/TMC/Showtime (including HD).

I myself am at the end of my commitment to dish and am canceling and moving to different state and was wondering if i had my wife call and order dish in her name would we be considered new customers?

New name, new address, new phone number. Should work fine.

Find yourself a good local retailer in the new town.

The old phone number is likely to cause an issue. Got a cell phone?

In any event, your local guy can probably work this through for you.
