I have stayed in lots of hotels that have used D* as source, but never one that had the actual receiver in room. I was surprised when I went into my room and found a D* remote. It was nice to know where to find all the familiar channels. I didn't spot the receiver at first, as it was strapped to the back of a big LG tv.:)

Thats exactly the way we do it at work. We have them in all the break rooms, the cafe and the gyms. They hide the remotes but I took a couple in.

COOL!
Was there a guide or any other info from the hotel to show what channels they got or how to work the D* system? Can you post some pics?

Some hotels have custom cable boxes / custom software running on them in the rooms or just have analog cable. Places with analog cable used to have more then any place with lodgenet or on command

No indication from the hotel at all. The only thing in the room at all was the little HBO monthly guide a lot of hotels have that you can also download on the HBO site. I bet a lot of people who don't have sat. or digital cable are confused as how to operate it.
Since I am D* customer, I played with the setup menus so I could see what model it was. I also switched the guide to all channel from the custom fav. list they had set up. They had several channels blocked out that were authorized on the box like the audio channels and a few video ones. I didn't take any pics. If your ever passing through Bossier City,LA stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Louisiana Boardwalk. I got room which was a huge suite that had a view of the river and 2 HDTV with H23's strapped to the back of each for 120.00 because it was a slow night. It is next to large open air shopping center and near several casinos. I did some last minute Christmas shopping there.
I noticed on their local channels they had 2 channels that said blacked out in your area. One was a PBS and the other said Arkansas Weather. I think the Shreveport DMA serves parts of 3 states. They also had an alert saying that market was going to lose their CBS channel because of retrans.
