hasnt been cleaning good for awhile, it got worse so i called for service.

tech checked it believes pump is bad. bottom arm turns top arm doesnt. tech feels pump is weak, so arm isnt turning.

after tech left i took the top rack with spray arm attached outside, and gave it the garden hose test.

wierd garden hose wouldnt make arm rotate either.

i ordered a arm no one stocks them locally.

odd thing a nub of plastic came out of the arm, when i went to clkean passages i heard it inside the arm.

i am mistified why a apparently fine arm wouldnt rotate, opeings clear etc.

if anyone has any ideas i am all ears

decded nub directs water into vanes that make arm rotate, mystery solved..... new arm on order.

called and requested tech call me back i will tell him what i found may save him future grief

Bob,
How old is the dishwasher ?
I have been doing some homework and been looking at them.
Mine is not draining anymore.

I have determined that I like the Kitchen Aid and the Bosch best, kinda leaning towards the KA though.

As it turns out, I was able to fix my problem with my existing one, as I was about to order one.
I was kinda suprised that just about any one I looked at would have to be ordered, and take about 5 days to get.
In that amount of time I fix my own, they could have had a sale had they had them in stock.

Personally I think most are better off buying a lower cost, lower service cost unit with common parts that are available locally.

rather than a high end pricey unit. this bosch is my 3rd dishwasher.

the least reliable of all. absolutely the quietest unit probably ever produced. its hard to tell its running its so quiet. but found service companies charge on average 20 bucks per hour more, cause its a high end specialized unit. all that soundproofing makes service harder and adds a lot of labor time. now my wife and most people I knopw love to buy something new, while I am happy to fix and keep running.

for us a common whirpool, in mid price range is likely a way better buy.

I am taking the suspect part of my dishwasher to sears today. the part that holds the spray arm in place removes with a half turn:)

So I will take a quick look at a display model in the store out of curosity. need to exchange some worn out craftsman screwdrivers. so will be in the store anyway.

this problem intrigues me.........

How did you fix it, my old GE had that problem, figured it was cheaper to get a new one than to fix it, got another GE.
