I got my 1st statement today - just 1 question-
It's for the period 3/4/06 thru 5/3/06.

I realize they want to charge in advance, but wondering why it was for 2 months??

Does this mean I won't get another bill until May?

On the good side of things - all the promo discounts and other charges explained to me at the time of install were listed correctly. Phew.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. My bill, even after the $299 I paid up front - came out with me still oweing $205.

Since I paid the $299 on Februaruy 1, the $59 for last month's bill came out of that $299 credit, leaving me a $240 credit. That $240 was applied against this almost 2-month bill totaling $424, covering the $299 receiver upgrade and prorated charges for HDGold+Locals & 2 DVRs for the period covering March 3 through April 18, so it's a bit longer than usual (almost 2 billing periods). So hopefully I'll be at my ~$95 a month once things get rolling.

They bill for one month in advance. A new customer starts in a 'current' month so the first bill is for the current month plus one month in advance. That is why the first bill is for two months.

Not a new customer, but there were some credits on my bill for what I had paid up from last month (I think my cycle is 19-19, and my 622 was installed on the 3rd).

Check your new Dish bill closely!

I just got my Dish bill and was shocked by the balance! Not only was it for two months of service, as was mentioned in the posts above, but it has a lot of extra charges on it.

They had not deactivated my old 510 DVR when the ViP-622 DVR was installed, so I was billed for an additional receiver and a second DVR fee. I also had a 811 but it was deactivated. They missed the 510. Now I know why I haven't received a second empty box for shipping back the 510.

They deactivated the 510 as of today. They said they couldn't back date it to 2/26 when the 622 was installed, so I'm stuck with the extra fees for 10 days. I don't think that's right!

Also, there's a surprise charge of $6.00 for an HD Fee. I didn't know about that one! Did you? You have to pay for the HD package and then they tag on an extra $6 fee for HD!?! They didn't mention anything about that when I signed up. The CSR apologized but said that it was an authorized fee.

So check your new bill carefully. You might find some surprises like I did.

It's funny that a DP34 is listed, although I neither got one, nor was one on the installer's workorder.

Looks like I'll be $92.95 plus tax per month ultimately. The extra $5.01 in there is for the 322 that they have not taken back yet. The installer requested a box be sent to me so I can ship it back, then that charge should go away since I'll have 2 receivers - a 522 and 622, and one is "included" in the package, and I'll get just one additional receiver fee.

If you get one of the HD packages, there should be no $6 HD fee. The csr that you spoke with is incorrect. Call back until you get a csr that will remove the charge.

Thanks, Jerry. I will definitely do that.

It appears that many Dish Customer Service Reps are very poorly trained and don't have the correct information for users. I've read dozens of stories on here about the CSRs misinforming people about stuff. You can call three times and get three different stories. Amazing!
