I have a dish plus lnb 119 and 110 and a dish pro lnb 61.5. Dish pro lnb has a single line going into and connecting the dish plus and then that one single wire coming into the house. I have heard from some ppl that say I need to wires coming into the house. Is that true and what switch would I need? I want to add more rooms than the one I have currently.

How do I go about adding up to four or more rooms. I am guessing right now that I dont have a switch. Do I need more wires coming into the house or do I need to get some switches and hook then up.

as from my research I'm not sure that only a dp44 switch will work.

I have 3 LNB. And two dishes. They point at 110,119 and 61.5. I have only one coaxial cable going into the house. Which then goes into the attic, where the coaxial cables for the other rooms split?

From what I understand from my research. I would need to have the dp44 switch outside, but since I only have one coaxial cable into the house this would not work. Or would it???

From what I have read here several times, a DPP lnb is not recommended for use with a DP44. Rather you should get a DP Twin. Whether inside or out, you would have three cables (two from the twin, one from the 61.5 lnb) to the inputs of the DP44. Then four cables out of the DP44 to where each of the 4 receivers would be located.

You would need 3 cables from the dish 1000 and dish 300 to the dpp44 since you would no longer use the DPP twin as the switch. Right now you can run 4 tuners on a dish 1000. A DPP44 switch can run 8 tuners per switch. Dish also has a 6 tuner limit if you are leasing though some have gotten around it.

What question did you read. The original post said nothing about a Dish1000 or a Dish300. It's pretty easy to see that the poster has a Dish500 with a DPP Twin pointed at 110 & 119 orbital locations, and another dish with a DP Dual pointed at the 61.5 orbital location.

The setup you have now is capable of running 2 receivers and 4 tuners if you have dual tuner receivers. So the dish system you have now could do upto 4 rooms.

If you wanted more than 4 rooms you would need to add an additional switch. I can tell you that Dish Network will only give you 4 tunners for free on your original install. If you want more than that you would have to buy the equipment and pay for the installation. The cost of the DPP44 alone is around $200.00 from Dish. Also the current dish configuration would have to be changed do to the fact that the internal switch on the DPP Twin is bypassed when an external switch is used. You would need a seperate line to the switch for every orbital location that you have, in your case that would be 3 seperate lines from the dishes to your switch.

I am a bit worried about your install. It sounds like it was not done properly or up to code. Only 1 line going from the dish into the attic sounds like the system is not properly grounded.

The DPP Twin works fine with the DPP44. It's the DP34 that the DPP Twin has problems with. The main thing is if you are using a DPP44 to use a DPP Twin is a waste as the internal switch is bypassed.

djflavor28,
Each receiver must have its own line from the dish or external switch. With your existing setup, you can add 2 rooms by running another line from the DPP Twin to a dual-tuner receiver.

External switches require an input line from each LNB (3 in this case). If you get the DPP44 (there is no "dp44") I would suggest placing it in the attic so the outputs can go straight to the other rooms.

There is no getting around having to run more lines from the outside - either 3 from the LNBs to the switch in the attic or 1 for each receiver if the switch is outside.
