right now we have two 4k channels one that does regular 4k and the other is 4k HDR no programming on them at the moment Dish could start adding some of those 4k channels i have listed above.
Don't hold your breath for 4k.
Just like Directv, Dish is managing their programming and satellites to minimize expenditures (capital, operating, and programming) with both providers experiencing a steadily decreasing customer base.
The 4k market is so small, there is no money in it for them.
They each will say, fine if you want 4k, look somewhere else because it is too expensive with too few customers for us to mess with it.
Just like Directv, Dish will slog along eliminating their SD receivers and markets and when they reach the break over point, they will likely pick up transponders from Directv at 110 and 119 and then drop 129W service, eliminating the need for a half billion dollar satellite expense.
Directv is well along on the program with their 119 and 110 transponders probably becoming surplus property in the next year or two.
