Hello all I'm new to the forum!!

Will mpeg4 HD look better, worse or the same as the mpeg2 HD that we currently have?

If we look at what DirecTV has up now in MPEG4, I think it will be safe to say that the MPEG4 coming next month will look good.... really good. :)

DirecTV carries my Hartford locals in HD in MPEG4 and the picture quality is as good as getting them via OTA antenna. :)

Welcome!

The mpeg 4 for Los Angeles looks essentially the same as the OTA on my Panasonic plasma.

The final picture is going to be determined by the uplink D* receives. MPEG4 has the capabilities to exceed what we see on the current MPEG2 but they can only retransmit what they receive. Some of the forcast HD channels will be sending upconverted SD programming so it won't be perfect.
