Well, I got the 5LNB and H20 installed for my 65" Mits...watching the Yanks on Ch 95...pic looks pretty good, not OTA good, but decent...I think this is the MPEG2 broadcase......switch over to channel 96 which I think is the MPEG4 broadcast...it looks "stuttery"...not smooth...also, there's plenty of audio and video artifacts...the question is, does D* understand and acknowledge this and are they working on a fix?....when there's a player closeup without a lot of motion, the pic is pretty nice but I can't stand watching it.

I'm in Connecticut.

There are several posts mentioning this problem. Make sure you call and tell D* about it. They are denying that there are any problems with the mpeg4 channels, or enen that anyone has called about it. The more people that call and complain the more likely it is that something will get done about it.

I'm interested if the new hd tivo will help matters but I doubt it......although someone with the new unit from detroit reported it helped his mpeg 4 issues.

Just a quick correction, the HR20-700 is not a Tivo box.

The 8mm motion on the MPEG4 channels is quite annoying and many others have noticed this. I am sure the D* developers are aware of the issue. It'd be interesting if this is only a H20 problem, and if so hopefully fixable via software update. Some people should be receiving their HR20s next week, so we should see fairly soon if the HR20 experiences the same bug.

Please cal DTV and complain about it. I've been reporting the problem for the past 8 weeks and everytime I call, they tell me that they have no reports on the issue. How can that be??

Dang you guys!!!!

Here I am HATING D* because I can't watch the Yanks on 96 due to the 8mm effect, and now it seems like it's fixed and I CAN'T SEE IT!!

Don't worry folks, I'm stuck in Colorado for another week and my wife won't be able to verify it's fixed because she couldn't tell it stunk before, but HALLELLUAH!! Tx guys for the update, can't wait to check it out.

Do you guys think the MPEG4 is now better than the MPEG2??

Same problems here in Philly on CBS and NBC. 8mm effect and unwatchable. Hoping we're on the list for the apparent "fix."

I wrote D* about this in Austin on two 1080i channels they carry, their response was"

Thank you for writing. I'm so sorry you're getting these problems on your local channels in HD and I apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused. We're escalating these problems to the Broadcast Center and the Center is working directly with the stations to get it resolved. They are aware of the problem in general, but are collecting more details on it.

OK, the usual response. I then sent an e-mail to an engineer at one of the stations and he wasn't even aware that D* had started to carry their HD signal, so I really doubt that they are working with the station on this. What I don't understand is that D* just turned up Austin two weeks ago, if they know that the fix is why not implement it before turn up vs. folks looking at this and saying what a crappy picture it is and just adding more fuel to the fire about how poor D* HD PQ is?

I am getting it right now on my HR20 NBC MPEG4, I have gotten it from time to time but it only lasted a few minutes so I assumed it was just a hard drive issue associated with live recording as it went away and I really never noticed it was just on MPEG 4 until I read this thread, but it was always on HD. Tonight is the first night I noticed it not going away. It is on NBC but not on the FOX baseball game, not sure why. I tried resetting the box during halftime as that takes about 5 minutes. See if that does the trick as this thing acts all weird all teh time like the remote stops working or I lose channels or a tuner stops working for some channels and not others and that usually fixes it. If that doesn;t do it, i'll call retention and e-mail them.
