I got dish hooked up yesterday. I live in a dma where I cannot get locals over the dish, and the locals hardly come in ota. My question is is 36 hours long enough to wait to move? I want to get DC locals (where I am from). Should I just move my sevice address? Or should I move billing and service to my parents house in that area, and then move my billing address back later?
Thanks

1. YES, that is long enough.
2. Yes, just call in and tell them your service address in ...D.C. . YOU can leave your billing address what is really is and leave your phone the same as it really is.

By the way D.C. locals are on 61.5 sat dish. So if you already have a side sat dish for 61.5 you can easily get them in HD -at least the 4 networks. THey are on conus beam on 61.5. For the sd channels I am not sure where they come from or if they are on spotbeam.

Just be 100% sure that you're "moving" to a place that your dish can see the locals you want. Also, if you do your research, you can find some areas that have the locals AND keep you safe from blackout restrictions in that area.

DC locals come from the 110 satellite in standard definition and the 61.5 sat in HD. Not sure what TP the SD locals are on or if they are on a spotbeam. One of the better local packages though...I think they have like 15 channels.

Yep, most of the DC locals are on the 25s5 spotbeam on the 110 satellite. The others are on the 3s13 spotbeam of the 119 satellite.
