My mobile home has a 1x6 facial board, you know the board that meets the
sloping roof, was thinking of removing board and installing a 2x6 or 2x8. how
have some members here installed the above items, i know the motor and dish
are heavy. or would i be better installing a schedule 40 2 inch od pipe, like
3 feet in ground. anyone have pics of their installs? thnks.

Several people here have done roof or wall mounts, it's doable but not as handy as a ground mount when it's time to setup or tweak your system.

Here's a pic of mine:

nice pic! what size pipe you use? how many feet from ground level is pipe extended?
I am trying to figure out if I mount it on facial board that slants, how high above
roof line should I go with pipe.

I believe my pipe is 2 3/8" O.D, 3' below ground, and the motor is mounted about 4' above ground level.

We recommend Non Penetrating Roof Mounts (NPRM) for our customers in similar situations. The NPRM distributes the load over a wide area and will not compromise the construction or integrity of your roof. Make sure to also purchase a pad to place under the mount. The pad keeps the mount from moving and damaging the roofing material.

Consider a model like the NPR4A with the 2 3/8" mast. Perfect diameter for mounting a motor.

I would not try to change the engineering on a Mobile home or a manufactured home at a structural line. As Brian advised, a NPRM would be a safer mount for that building. I have been through changing engineering on buildings and the manufactures and insurance companies do not like it! Re-engineering cost me over $1400. Way too much to mount a dish! But for my project --OK.

would installng 2in pipe into ground and go up past roof line would that work, that way would not have to set on roof, as you mentioned the mobile homes use cheap
plywood for roof, would not hold. will check out your website and look at NPRM. thnks
