What happens to be the most common SD receiver these days that is being given at install for customers.
and thats if it comes in a brown box, if you get a white box, then its most likely a d11 which generally dont have issues but are refurbs.
you could do that, just make sure that the receiver on ebay is not a leased receiver. best way to find out is to get the receiver info like the access card, serial number and receiver i.d. also depends on the model your looking into. if its a receiver without a card, then you can order a card through directv for $20. be carefull when activating though to let directv know that it is an owned receiver. sometimes the person the other end is not bright and mark it as leased.
it should, i take it youve been watching some free movies..hehe. i know you cant erase the history from the card itself. i tried unsuccessfully. that would be a question left to their recovery dept. now unless you get the card where its unreadable but no signs of damage, it is a computer chip just like a gsm phone sim card. i would try using a strong magnet on the chip and see if it has any effect on it after you insert back in the receiver. but after you get your replacement of course. now if you have already been charged for the those purchases, then it should be nothing to worry about. all that card does is hold your program info and your ppv purchase info.
Don't they have composite, and S-Video outputs too?????oh, d12, tiny black receivers with crappy coax output.
Owned or not ,when you activate ANY receiver it comes with a programming commitment.18-24 months.be carefull when activating though to let directv know that it is an owned receiver. sometimes the person the other end is not bright and mark it as leased.

no you have to. I'm pretty sure they just check to see if there are any ppv not purchased without a phone line hooked up. they dont reuse the card. every box i get even refurbished units come with a new card. the only info that comes up on that card is your programming info and your purchase info. it doesnt hold any value at all or doesnt store any personal info from your account. just box info. hope that was helpfull
that is true, but the point is, its not a leased reciever. if its owned its customers equipment not directv. if it is leased, then the customer returns the equipment to directv via recovery kit.Owned or not ,when you activate ANY receiver it comes with a programming commitment.18-24 months.
cards are $20 from directv. but if you plan on buying straight from them then your looking at new card with the receiver anyway just with a lease. if you get a receiver from ebay without a card or a bad card for that matter then you would just have to pay the extra $20 for a card. just make sure that the Receiver id is wiped clean from former or existing accounts. What about buying a new card and adding it to the sale.
